Is it me?

Just yesterday and Today really dropped for me on ebay - just a blip I expect.  Amazon is fine, no drop there.

i came on the forum with this question too , have noticed it for months . in general sales are down 25 to 35 percent this year . i would assume buyers have been scared off with ebay's protection fee . together with the upgrade to a business account at the start of the year i get more fee's as well so in general i'm down at least 50 - 70 % income a month compared to last year

Hi i have the same problem my sales went from 10 to 15 items daily now i am lucky if i get 1, over the last month and a half i just kept dropping my prices in the hope something would change, but it did'nt mt prices got so low that i was'nt making any money and in some cases ended up paying ebay in costs and promotions that some days i had to pay ebay, i have been on the phone a number of times to see if there is a problem with my account, but they say there is'nt, i also asked if i close down my shop could i re-open it when things pick up and still stay on my top rated seller status, i was told yes, but i don't think it is true, i have now reset all my prices to when i first listed them

anyway i have now, started doing car boot sales to get some income, and there is a very good chance i will have to close down my shop and leave ebay altogether and find another platform to sell on, this month i have'nt sold enough items to cover the subscription fee,

The last couple of months have been absolutely dreadful and follow a year on year trend of decreasing sales. I have been reducing items and offering discount codes which usually stimulates sales but nothing seems to be working.. I'm a business seller with around 1500 listings and maybe selling one or two items a day when this time last year it was 10-15 a day.

Its becoming unsustainable - truly depressing

Yep, most folk that I know have seen a substantial drop in sales. With all the shenanigans of the past few months all combining to produce the perfect storm. I also know of several sellers that gave up after to being scared off having heard of the HMRC threat, less sellers=less buyers.

My sales since feb have gone down so much.I sold about 20 to 30 items a day now im lucky if its 2 or 3 a day.Weekends i could sell 50 items now i dont get into double figures, its almost pointless paying for a ebay shop anymore.Im fed up with ebay trying all the time to get me to promote my items who to?If things dont change soon i will be gone from ebay which is a shame after getting good results over many years both as a private and business seller

I don't think Ebay are solely to blame for low sales. There is a lot of economic uncertainty at the moment, and I think people are not spending much on discretionary stuff. They either cannot afford it, preferring to buy food and pay their lecky bill, or are putting money aside in case things get worse.

Hi Davids,

I think the answer to your question is that it might be. I am trying to help, not be snotty, a fresh pair of eyes is good I think, but stop reading here if you are going to get annoyed.

You have a terific eclectic mix of stuff which epitomises the Ebay we love. I looked at 3 things which interested me.

The Hermes shoes are listed as brown, they are silver! The size 4 or 38 is not shown in the photos, maybe the size has worn off, but they are not the same thing. 38 is a 5. You have shown the condition well in the photos, but although the price is not unreasonable for these classic shoes, i would not come close to paying that price for that condition.

Jellycat is lovey, but recent sold prices are almost half that price. The use of AI description is very obvious and although i have used it in the past, i don't trust it when i read it on other peoples listings.

The leather footballs appear to be in totally different conditions, but are the same price. Also as someone who would think of buying something like this as  gift, i was suspicious of the 1950s 60s age you put on them. I know nothing, but there was nothing which gave me confidence that it was from that era. It looks like modern gift shop to me. Again the AI description is offputting and did nothing to give me confidence of the provenance.

I ony looked at those 3 and thats what i thought and it might help you to know what buyer thinks. You have obviously sold lots in the past, but there are somethings that Ebay are not to blame for. Don't hate me.

Maybe its to motivate sellers to pay for ad campaigns to increase visibility, maybe your not as visible on the site if you dont pay for a promotion.

Mmmm 🤔 dunno?
I shift between 'buy it now' which i think always gets lost amongst everything to changing to auction because then it'll end up top of the pile after 5 days and may get seen easier?
It all just seems a bit weird on ebay atm? They've gotta be losing money as well.

It's not you, the bottom is falling out of eBay, it seems its mostly Chinese sellers now. My sales fell by 80% and eBay always get me to have campaigns, but it brings nothing but money for their fees.

I'm getting buyers who buy off me as my products good quality, and they send back the *bleep* they buy from China to me and pretend it's mine, so I have to refund them and throw away the *bleep* they bought. Soul destroying 😡😡
