I've just noticed another inconsistency with ebay's new 'cloak and danger' approach to showing prices, costs and fees. I had a book which I purchased arrive today, so I went to leave feedback for the seller. However, when doing so, I noticed that the feedback page now shows an incorrect value for the P&P paid.
I paid £2.94 for the P&P, whereas on the Feedback page it states the postage cost was £2.45!!! Unfortunately the seller used 'Simple Delivery' for arranging the postage (which I think is possibly the reason for the inaccuracy). I'm guessing the P&P was £2.45 and then ebay added on their own additional fees of 49p for their own slice of the action?!
This is what's shown on the item listing: and what I paid:
And then here's what's shown on the Feedback page for the postage cost on the item:
So, is it the case that ebay are adding on additional fees for P&P now? If so, should they not be more open about this? And if this is the case, then what does the buyer and/or seller get for the additional 49p paid?
Any insight would be gratefully received.

I suspect the feedback page is (incorrectly) showing the postage cost without VAT.
£2.45 plus 20% equals £2.94...

The plot thickens! I've found a breakdown on the 'View Order Deatils' tab that the 49p is for VAT:
Nasty buggers. The standard tracked delivery service would likely already have had VAT within what Evri charged (i.e. the original £2.45). In fact, I just checked on the Evri website and can see the total cost including VAT (had the seller have gone straight to the courier) should have been £2.62. This Simple Delivery offering is leaving a distinctly bad aftertaste for buyers like me : (

Parcels over 3cm width with Evri via the website delivered to a home address costs £3.16 inc VAT and has only £20 cover

Sorry, mine was posted through my door (less than 3cm). Price should have been £2.70 I believe.

Yes they will if the seller has not offered Evri and RM, if they only allow one of these Ebay is adding cost to the postage. This is very unfair as many people need their items collected and only RM do this and sellers will be marked down in the stars for this as well as maybe get bad feedback. I've removed my lisitings and closed my shop and have told them why in no uncertain terms

From the Evri website thats £2.70 inc VAT but no coverage.
So 24p for £25 coverage for the sellers if it goes missing sounds reasonable.

KL_Books - An extra 24p for coverage might sound reasonable, and that's fine, but as a buyer let's not forget what coverage I'm already paying for:
(i) I was forced to pay a Buyer Protection Fee on the purchase.
(ii) I also have a money back guarantee on the purchase.
(iii) Now I'm paying extra again to have the item insured.
Nevertheless, I'm honestly not all that bothered with paying for the insurance (even as you say....I'm paying for the sellers!), my issue was more with the inconsistencies on ebay's platform and lack of transparency with fees etc of late.
