How the Hell do I combine postage for several items?

Someone has bought several items and wants combined postage. Can't send payment details because ebay changed the postage method!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another has bought several...some with my normal Royal Mail postage and the others were changed by ebay to the simple postage. They want combined postage. What do I do? This whole system is absolutely rubbish. I note on another post, someone sold several items and had the same problem and the buyer promptly cancelled the order for all the items. I am sick to death of this pathetic new system. Someone please help me. Stress levels through the roof.

They spend their time searching for parts of Ebay that work properly, and inventing ways to stop them working properly. It gets tougher all the time.  😊

Re: How the Hell do I combine postage for several items?

I'm presented with this problem at the moment, an utter nightmare. Two items purchased by one customer. Pre "simple" delivery not a problem. You purchased one label for the size & weight of you two items, job done.

I must have spent 2-hours looking how to combine. It should be easy, it isn't. Now I'm reading in this thread that:

1. It's not working at the moment.

2. The option might have been withdrawn.

Being Saturday afternoon, I have until Monday morning to find a solution. If one doesn't present itself, I'm resigned to purchasing two labels, for two items and sending separately, and at extra cost to me. Both these items were sold with *FREE POSTAGE*. Well done eBay, yet another post sale nightmare!

Re: How the Hell do I combine postage for several items?

One solution, but with the buyer's acceptance,  is to cancel the order citing Buyer Requests to Cancel, this fully refunds the buyer,  and your seller performance is not affected.

You can then relist the items,  together on one listing,  therefore giving you one postage label to buy and that all important tracking number here covering both items , for the buyer to buy and pay again.

A faff I know,  and not ideal I know,  but you did ask for a solution to present itself !  This is the only one where you as a seller,  are protected with tracking for both items.

Unused labels are refunded to whoever paid for the labels this way:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.

Re: How the Hell do I combine postage for several items?

This has also been driving me mad! Since changing to the EBay Simple postage option, I have had lots of issues with buyers asking for combined postage but I have been unable to easily do this! I have decided to add a note on any more listings advising any potential buyers of this problem!!!!

For Simple Delivery it seems to be an issue no more.

Buyers need to place all items into their basket prior to buying,  then at eBay checkout,  eBay combine the postage.

Perhaps as a suggestion, add something  in your listings like.....  ' I do offer combine postage,  but please to enable this you need to place all items into your basket first,  then combined postage is shown at eBay checkout,  thank you. '

Re: How the Hell do I combine postage for several items?

I have the same problem. Buyers are getting annoyed at being charged postage multiple times. I tried to get help and the ebay AI stated I had to send the items separately otherwise I was not protected if the items were lost during postage. The new system is terrible for buyers and the environment. You waste so much extra packing materials that it is terrible for the planet. Ebay need to fix this urgently

Not sure if you have seen my above answer @picklesdp   to the previous poster,  but eBay have ' solved ' the issue of combining postage,  except for the ' minor' fact most sellers and importantly buyers are not aware of this.

For Simple delivery transactions and any combined postage to be offered,  the buyer needs to place these in the basket first,  then proceed to eBay checkout,  where the items show that combined postage.

As I explained ,  perhaps a message at the end of your listings,  something like....  '  I am happy to combine postage,  but for this to be possible,  you need to first place all items into your basket,  then at eBay checkout you will be present3ed with a combined postage cost.  '

That should work .

Same problem. So, I get a label for the first item.

Then I copy the tracking number, paste it on all other items and mark them as dispatched.

One label, all items in the same box and moving on with my life.

Re: How the Hell do I combine postage for several items?

if you do that there is no way to add the tracking numbers to the other two items therefore those items shows not dispatched (or undelivered). Also these items are not covered by Ebay protection program only the first item would be covered. I ended up cancelling three purchases. I relisted as one lot which buyer then purchased and sent under one label. this was under Ebay suggestion. Ebay need to inform buyers they need to purchase all items at the same time and not pay for them separately!

"if you do that there is no way to add the tracking numbers to the other two items"

To add tracking numbers to the other two items, click the three-dot button and select "Add Tracking Number". The screenshot is from an order like this.

"therefore those items shows not dispatched"

To mark them as dispatched, click the same three-dot button and select "Mark as dispatched".

"Also these items are not covered by Ebay protection program only the first item would be covered."

I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. Even though, especially for a low-price item, I'm willing to take the risk and keep my customer happy.

Interestingly a new order status/message has appeared on an item I have just sold.  It appears that the buyer now has a 3 hour window within which to purchase further items and obtain combined postage even if they have already paid for the first item.  Not a particularly long window but at least it is some progress in the right direction.

Re: How the Hell do I combine postage for several items?

Thanks @sml192  for that update in ' improving'  this sadly lacking part of SD, it's noted !

You as a seller is receiving this message , lets hope the buyer is receiving that message, and it's BOLD and clear and visible,  that they are able to do this ! 🤔

As you say,  small steps towards progress here with one of the most frustrating parts of SD 🤗
