I've literally not used ebay for ages
I've listed some bits and a couple have been bought straight away but I thought if I had put them on as auction this wasn't possible? As far as I'm.aware I didn't select buy it now as an option?
I'm confused!!

You have listed all of your items with 'accept offer' - see screenshot below.
If you have best offer on, then buyers can purchase instantly if you have set an 'accept minimum offer'.
You have also listed some items as buy it now.

Good Evening doobie
You are quite correct if you list as an auction without any additional buy it now situations the item can't be bought straight away. On the items that you sold you had a Best Offer feature and it is possible that you accidentally agreed when listing to automatically sell it right away if a certain figure was reached/offered.
That's all that I can think may have happened.

I had a look at the leather trousers in your sold items. They were for sale as an auction item with a start price of about £12 but they sold for £3.99 best offer.
It looks as if you may have used 'sell similar' and set your items to accept a best offer of £3.99.
Unless you want everything to go for silly prices you need to go through all your items and take best offer off the auction items.
If you don't want any items to be 'buy it now' you will have to cancel those items and relist them because you can't change a listing from 'buy it now' to auction.

Unfortunately, these days, eBay has a habit of auto-switching options 'on' that you may well want 'off'.
For instance, when listing an item, if you swap from Auction to Buy it now, you will find 'Accept offers' has been automatically toggled on, so you have to toggle it off again, if you don't want offers.
If you haven't been selling for a while, it's a good idea to double-check your listings & postage options etc, to make sure you don't get any more nasty surprises! 😲

That last bit applies even if you list regularly. When RM postage costs increased in October to £2.95 for a 48hr tracked LL, I put my price up to £3.20 to cover packaging, but when I relisted, some items are showing £3.05 again.
I used to think it was me making errors - nowadays, I am not so sure!
