Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

OK so listing some items tonight

good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates

bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?

This is from ebay itself:  You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.

I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

So I haven't listed for a few weeks, the last time I could enter my own postage, now I have ZERO option, I'm trying to put in postahe for Special Delivery as it's a very expensive item, ZERO ways of removing this stupid *bleep*ING system, I'm done with ebay, final straw.

I will not ever be using Evri ebay can go shove it and as for Royal mail no I will not be sending a 20kg parcel with royal mail its bloody expensive I use interparcel so stop trying to push your goddamn postal services on me, I've noticed now they have removed my custom postage altogether

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

I have a business account and a private one I only ever used once but recently started using it to sell things form my house clearance.   Up till recently I sold my own stuff on my business account but of course was being charged seller fees, which was daft but at least you get to choose your own postal carriers.  Many things I sell on my private account are collect only, so that is not a problem.   I have noticed too, that the option to use our own postal service has been removed, although oddly, there was one item I just listed to go by post and it said it was not possible to use Ebay's forced delivery!

I am frustrated as I use my own postage stamps which I purchase at discount.  Many of my sales are low value items, so there is virtually no profit if I use Ebay's simple delivery.  I understand why it is a good thing but is taking away a seller's right to choose.  I don't have any sympathy for people who are operating a business on a private account, though, and I suspect it is a lot to do with this group of people some of these new regulations are coming in!!  However I still see many private accounts which are definitely not!!

Opting out has completely disappeared from mine no matter what I do!

R.I.P eBay 🪦

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

There's no custom postage or advanced options on my listings page either. I have been using Royal Mail Tracked 48 because I have had many problems with Yodel and  Evri delivering to me and  throwing packages over the wall or leaving them on the doorstep.  I want to use Royal Mail.  eBay have also changed my preferred 3 days to post sales to 2 days. It feels like being bullied by eBay.

I have been able to amend 2 days back to 3 days in the listing

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Hi. Exactly the same for me, I had a number of listings on auto list end at the weekend. I left them to renew them at my lunch break at work today. I couldn't because of the enforced simple delivery. At least having 7-10 days to post gave me the opportunity to have time to visit a post office on a Saturday. I can use Royal Mail but I can't use Tracked 48.

Same here. I'm in the same boat as you. I want to renew listings but I can't even edit the price to include the cost of the comic mailer.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

I can no longer edit my postage cost and it always uses "simple delivery". You need to know ahead of time the size and weight of the item, so that you select the correct options to get the right price! I tried creating a postage policy but Simple Delivery overrides this option.

This is all very annoying considering packing materials are not free. Business accounts can change their postage prices which is fair enough but feel like private sellers should be able to as well.

Just add any packing costs to the price of your item.

Would packing materials necessarily be that different if sending internationally than within the UK.

The poster was asking about the packaging costs, SD doesn't allow for this and sellers I see are adding those costs to the item price.

Just to add @a45heaven   you ask do eBay listen to Mentors? 🤔

Erm!  You mean our ideas or input, no they don't !

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Most of my items are low value people will not pay unnecessary post and packing costs on top of the recent “buyer protection fee” as well.

The business model for many private sellers is no longer viable. It is ok for someone selling a dress or pair of shoes but not items like football programme’s, magazines etc.

They are basically just using Vinteds business model. It’s a shame I’ll just have to sell my items in bulk via alternative means as eBay has basically just implemented a system that doesn’t cater for all sellers
