Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

OK so listing some items tonight

good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates

bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?

This is from ebay itself:  You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.

I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

They told me the system is temporarily showing too high a cost, but “costs will be remoulded by 14th April”. Similarly the different missing postage weight categories will be rectified.. similarly the incorrect information as to whether it’s free postage showing in your summary… Why on earth would they roll something out before it’s right?

I'm really looking forward to 70p Second Class Letter Post with the Royal Mail... I'm sure eBay have struck a great deal for us lol

I have found that if I do as someone recommended then it works , you have to click on collection only then done then click on shipping again and the other options will appear .

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

If it’s true that we can continue to opt out why the messages saying SD will be the only way to post from 15 April

apart from a couple exemptions

ebay

The company who doesn’t know what their policies are , might be, will be, were

well, it’s kind of eclectic I suppose haha

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

The new Royal mail large letter price is £2.70 and up to 1 kg ? simple delivery is still shown 750g and £2.74 ,

They have been very quick to impose DS on us ( iam still opting out) so why is it taking so long to fix ? no update from Ebay or apology's (this would be a first)

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

They are going to lose A LOT of sellers and a lot of money if that’s the case. Can you even get acknowledgement of delivery via the simple delivery service. Isn’t it just tracked rather than signed for?

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

But it won’t be

there are many workarounds to try and about four categories of items that are exempt

low priced under a tenner light under 100g items for letter and large letter size

oversize items or overweight items ie over 20kg or over medium size parcel

restricted items ie China glass perfumes for the evri lot

expensive over 750 quid items

all these you can your postage however you want with who you want at any price you want

if they impose it draconianly and I don’t believe their system can do this or even that they actually want to then a lot ore people will stop selling because the basic fact of the matter is there is little  benefit to sellers but a lot of financial benefit to eBay

I might have to revise my opinion in a week let’s see

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

sorry missed it , you can get letters are on the ebay labels 87p but on SD its £2.74 ? , odd as looked at selling a trade card £2 , and with free post postage is £2.74 for seller  so if imposed next week we will oww ebay for each low price sale, but just a glitch !

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

6th sale this week and the 4th label problem. This time I used Royal Mail Special Delivery in the options list as it was an expensive item, and this was the only one Ebay would allow that covered the insurance.

What Ebay failed to state was that this option had to be delivered to a Royal Mail depot, so it was rejected at the post office. Yet again I had to scrape the Ebay label and buy another one from the Post Office.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Anyone else had a simple postage survey come through from eBay this morning with the possibility of a 30 min video call afterwards ? I’ll let you know what happens if I get selected

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

I think you’re being very naive, eBay will (and are) impose their new “Simple Delivery” on all private sellers. It is totally not fit for purpose and unviable for most sellers, myself included, and I am in the process of removing my items.
I am retired and downsizing and thought that it would be nice if items I have accumulated over years could go to people who wanted them. Unfortunately eBay appears to be going “anti private seller” (recent buyer protection fee another example) so sadly the bin it will be for most items, as my daughter’s don’t want a load of old Football programme’s etc and I don’t want to be out of pocket as eBay somehow tells me what postage to use.
I do not possess a printer and cannot expect my neighbour who takes a lot of items to the post office for me to be messing about with qrcodes
