I have not had any discounts on sellers fees since February, yet friends and family are still receiving them. Is anyone having the same experience?

Selling in the UK only is fine but you are wasting the first 2 words which are the most important ones in the title thats all I was saying.
Its your opinion that its too expensive and you are free to hold that, for me its still cheaper v safety and reach compared to any others.

you cant really compare auction houses to ebay! thats very unfare!. auction houses have to handle your items, store them, photograph them, write up, list, insure and sometimes ship, basically do all the work! what do ebay do that justifies an £80 bill for one item when you do all the work?
yes i knew the fee's before i listed and still went ahead so yes its my fault... i still think its criminal that they take a cut of the postage. and no more nectar points!
im free to use or not use ebay and i probably will but im definately not as enthusiastic about using them anymore, selling or buying. as i said for me they are now really a last resort.

Then its not fair to compare to any other site who dont offer the same reach or protection as a buyer or seller either then?
eBay offer a lot of protections, be that for the buyer or seller and they also offer the biggest audience you could ever wish for, for around 12% that seems like great value to me, no other site or auction house in the world has even half of the reach that eBay does, they also offer you international postage options without the need for any paperwork via GSP another great perk which granted the buyer pays a slight premium for but you are then protected incase of damage or loss on international travel.
It cant really be criminal if you knew the charge before selling, I hope you do continue to use eBay to its full potential and dont find the flaws in the many other sites online.

reach and protection lol! you mean nearer 14% and as for reach ebay reduces visability of (hides) listings asking for more money to "boost" your listing!!! i know they do it as friends of mine can see some items i cant and visaversa! regarding protection? buyers actually have very little protection when selling, your open to all kinds of abuse from dodgy buyers. its an incredibly frustrating and expensive site to sell on but you right we dont have many options.

Depends on what you sell so lets call it 10-15%, show me another site that gives you the reach or protection eBay does, I'll wait.
You get a lot of protection if you are selling, if you dont know about it then I advise you read up on it, you might be shocked, its a lot better than most other online marketplaces thats for sure, any better you will be charged more.

exactly, some of us have not had the offer for over a year while others never lost it. when i contacted ebay about it they said i should sell more and it will come back so i did and it didnt and now it looks like it has actually sopped for everyone.
in the past when people complianed here about high selling prices people would say wait for the selling offers.... so what now? apart from a few ebay sycophants that think ebay is all sunshine and roses they tell you to put your prices up and then wonder why ebay is loosing millions of buyers as well as sellers.
ebay had become a depressing place to buy and sell, just visiting ebay after 7pm and it nearly all listings from charity shop and vintage honey pots!
trying to buy specialist collectables from someone that actually knows what they are selling and can apraise it accurately has become increasinly hard as they are all leaving ebay, the ones that are left are trowing up big job lots of junk and have no idea about condition which leads to a lot of heavy returns!

But with the auction house, the sale would be final, no risk of INRs or INADs or charge backs where you then lose your money. Auction houses charge more but at least you'd know what you'd get out of it is yours.
23-09-2024 1:20 PM
exactly, with ebay your always waiting for that dreaded "returns case opened" which makes selling stressful enough
23-09-2024 1:28 PM
I'm not missing the point, they are offers so they shouldnt be seen as guaranteed, you know the price and the stuff they bring on eBay. Ebay have decided some accounts qualify for them and some dont, be it random or a formula they have decided (nobody knows) but the people complaining about the price of selling when its by far the cheapest for its reach adn safety are complaining about things they already knew, its like me complaining about the price of milk after I've seen the price, picked it up and paid for it.
People are just wanting everything for cheaper as other sites which dont have the reach or protection offer them, if they'd rather pay less then sell on those sites, its not very hard.

So would you be happy to pay another 10/15% and not have the chance of INAD or INR, INR can be covered if you use the correct postage service, I've sold 19k items and never once lost out on an INR where I've not been able to prove delivery or get compensation from the courier, so thats a little extra work but its no big worry, I'd rather have the extra money in my pocket tbh. Also I'm far from an eBay cheerleader and many on here can confirm and the ones just reading the threads.

your right, ebay has a monopoly, thats the problem! they tried putting vinted out of business recently! by offering no fees on used clothing.
23-09-2024 11:23 PM
My offers stopped weekend just gone. I contacted eBay they said yes it's now stopped but new offers are coming soon. I have loads of drafts done but not listing them until a seller offer is back on. eBay take to much off in fees without these offers.
24-09-2024 2:35 PM
For the majority of items priced between £20-£90 just add 10% for listing without FVF70/80 promo (say £50 with FVF, £55 without FVF) and this would offset fees. Then you'll notice significantly more page views and sales should be back to similar levels.
All the nonsense discussion about 'business sellers acting as private' is about £5 difference in price (in average) per item, as they still need to pay taxes, otherwise HMRC hammer will be tough fairly soon. For that extra fiver businesses have to charge, they offer returns (although many private offer or honour it anyway, even without saying) and you can generally expect higher standard of services, proper packaging, etc. But hey, does everyone shop at M&S? Many go to Iceland and Poundstretcher, while others would never go there, despite lower prices.

Vinted will put itself out of business before long, never seen so much scamming. Hopeless moderation, they'll either have to start doing whatever it is they charge their customers for or it'll collapse.

Nothing this weekend either, not worth me lifting anything with taking such a big hit in fees

My 80% stopped beginning September had nothing at all since without the discount its quite expensive to sell won't be listing much now 🙄

You've got another batch of personally owned and no longer wanted Garmins waiting to be listed then?

My late delivery rate has just gone over 3% due to a short illness.
Then my 70% FVF stopped last weekend (20 Sep), it's not recommenced this weekend.
I will monitor and see if once that rate goes below 3% if I then get the FVF back.
I have been getting the offer every other week for over a year. It's missed a weekend here and there. To my recollection I don't belive I've missed an offer for more than 4 weekends, except Januray.

It wouldn't be this weekend anyway, it is every 2 weeks, so it will be next weekend
