I think it's got to a point where ebay are just confusing themselves with each and every change they keep making (and backtracking on).
It's a total mess..if they had any sense whatsoever (!?) they'd scrap all this nonsense, apologise to their customers (buyers & sellers) and put things back the way they were.

I think they said with the 75p fixed bit becoming 72p, it was to allow for cases where it would need to be higher. (Which cases?!)
Which probably translated as 'we messed it up, and this is the best excuse we could come up with at short notice'!

I think the real difference, and benefit, is on low cost items of £5 and under where the change is a drop of about 50p.
Price for an item listed as a seller for £5 will drop from to £5.93 to £5.45.

hmm...too little, too late?

except they are not actually listening or they would be doing something about SD, that seems to be the biggest bone of contention. Trouble is, it is the one thing that they are tied into with other companies. Not sure how their contracts work but i doubt if they will be able to change it for a couple of years at least.

Well, I have become quite a fan of SD, so I hope if they do change (which I doubt will be anytime soon, given as you say their contracts with Evri & RM) it they at least keep it as an option.
Given that they said they will be adding more courier options, I guess that we will get an inkling over the coming months, if they add more, they are sticking with it. If no other couriers are added, then I guess it will be going/being made optional.

Good, because I actually like SD. I only ever used Royal Mail and Evri for shipping so I'm quite happy for it to stay as is.

Doesn’t it irk you when you see the price is higher than it would be if you just bought the label yourself though?
SD doesn’t apply to me but when I saw the price list involved higher charges if the seller didn’t enable both couriers, but then they could enforce a courier on you anyway, it seemed fairly brazen to me.

As far as the price is concerned no, not really as I'm not buying the postage, the buyer is. Plus before BPF we were paying fees on the postage as well as the item price so surely the prices now are cheaper.
I've already said I was using both Royal Mail and Evri before SD so they are not forcing any courier on me.

Fair enough. I have just looked at the prices again, they seem to have improved since I last checked with the addition of Evri click and collect as low as £2.26 which is actually pretty decent. That change passed me by.
I still think the 10-20kg one where it is cheaper to have both couriers selected yet there is no Evri standalone price anyway is mad.

I think 'we've listened' is the closest you ever get to an apology around here.
Remember they used similar words when splitting the hated combined SD small/medium parcel rate. Then they spent another few months listening to people leaving and reducing their activity levels in frustration at the remaining obvious problems. At the time I said those postage rate concessions went no where near enough to satisfy people. Their sense of judgement had failed them.
Even with these changes there is more they need to do to stop being so irritating. I see opening up 2nd class large letter rates in all categories (except perhaps cars which are always different rules) for items under £20 is key to regaining their competitive advantage. And having some kind of after-sale page for a seller to combine postage correctly and part refund the buyer if a buyer places multiple orders or ebay unnecessarily increases the postage rate.
It's crazy to police postage options by category as real life objects don't follow those rules.
Even if they can't apologise it would be good to ask & listen before making dumb mistakes.

Thanks ebay, I have to adjust the price of all of my listings AGAIN !!!!
why dont you just let me set the finial price and take what ever you need from it and name it what ever you want, why do I need to do the stupid calculation for the price (Listing with Varian does not have the automatic calculation of the protection fee)
Everytime ebay make changes just make it worse
I only have 16 listings, imaging the seller who has more than 200 listings, its just ridiculous!!!

ARR it also says any eligible live listings that aren’t yet using Simple Delivery will switch to this delivery option. so more interference with postage more small parcel items moving to medium parcel prices without any notice ,

Everyone will definitely have to check what their postage says on 6 august
also does anyone know if the 24 hours from buyer paying payout is for for untracked items
just wondering

Good news or just ebay trying to ''sweeten'' enforced SD. I really cannot see the logic in giving postal options, some of us want to support our local PO.

As others have said the Buyers Protection is too baffling right now....what I did get was SD was now mandatory to ALL listings from 6th August No Exceptions......Next step The Business Section

Yes, reducing the buyer fees is welcome news. Now the buyer fee on an item priced at £5 has dropped from 92p to just 45p, and on an item priced at £3 it has dropped from a ridiculous 84p to just 31p, Ebay has made these prices far more attractive to buyers.
But the SD tracked postage rates are still way too high. £2.72 for a tracked large letter is over £1 more than the RM rate of £1.55, thus ensuring that an attractively-priced item is still not attractive to post.
Ebay should also allow ALL low value items to be opted out of SD, ideally up to the £20 limit for cover already provided by Royal Mail 1st/2nd class postage.

I know £1.55 is the UNtracked large letter postage rate, but do low value items needs to be tracked?
