Three weeks ago I sold a box of 42 magazines to a buyer in the States. The GSP charge for the buyer (Sales tax, transaction fees, postage label) was £43.23. The buyer wanted 4 more magazines, which would obviously be less bulky to send, and I set up a new listing for just those 4. However their Checkout amount show just the shipping coming to $115.84. Anyone have any idea why the cost of sending to the same person is that much higher?

I wonder if Trump's Tarriffs are starting to cause trouble ? (mind you that does seem like an enormous jump in price.. ?)

Yes, a member contacted me about an item of mine that what previously was shown to cost him around $35 in shipping is now quoted at around $135. I did check it and he was right. Then I checked other sellers with similar items and it's charging $108 for a single comic book at a value of around £2-3.. Ridiculous.. Chat in help was as useless as ever, saying that duties, taxes, etc are included in the charges so it may be higher than Royal Mail.

Sounds like a weird glitch with the GSP.
I ship to the US on a daily basis (from my website sales, not eBay's GSP) and postage hasn't gone up to those giddy heights, plus in the US you wouldn't pay any import fees for a couple of comic books anyway.

In this current climate, never say never...
Until yesterday you did not pay import fees on comic books
Today? Who knows?

Just to show what the OP and I are talking about, the same with royal mail would be around £20 i believe, £22.50 with insurance up to £250 + whatever the buyer in the US would have to pay in charges

Hi,
Yes I have had exactly the same happen, someone in the US wanted to know why a small pin badge weighting less that 100g (large letter) was costing $100 shipping. But if you changed the shipping to Canada, Brazil or Australia the shipping was around £15-25 for the same item.
I had a look and almost all my listing to the US are at the £100 price mark, I also looked on other random sellers using GSP and they were the same.
Something is definitely seems to be wrong, until this is addressed can’t see me selling anything to the US.

Something's up with the GSP, another seller has experienced the same issue with some crazy top dollar postage price showing.

I thought that was China , Canada and Mexico - nothing from the UK as yet... besides it would only be a percentage of the item price and a few magazines would not amount to incurring that huge jump in price... somethings incorrect there.

Here's a screenshot the buyer sent me. If there's been a change, definitely been in the last week as 2 Sundays ago I posted to the another US buyer 3 magazines and the GSP cost was less than £6.

There's another thread like this that popped up today, in the Business Seller area off memory. Very similar to what you are describing. Destination U.S.A, sudden increase in shipping charges. Hopefully a glitch and not some new tariff related nonsense.

That'll be the third seller mentioning this issue then.
There are no new tariffs, so a glitch of sorts.

I'm in the US and have directly experienced this as a buyer. Multiple listings I have been following, all coming from the UK and all using the GSP, jumped in shipping rates by over $100 yesterday. I phoned eBay about it today. The person with whom I spoke confirmed what I was experiencing and said they knew nothing about it. I just checked some of those same listings this evening and the shipping rates were down on average $50. That still leaves a shipping rate that was previously $20, now around $70.

Well at least we now know that ebay customer service in the US is as useless as in the UK!

Hey folks, looks like it has been sorted. Do you concur?

The price shipping to the USA of one of my books went back down to £38 from £95
