Hi again all,
I've been selling on eBay for around 4 months now. I've sold a decent amount of items, have great feedback and dispatch items same day.
I posted on here last week after my funds got placed on hold.
It's happened again but this time as the item was only £10, I sent it.
This is the wording eBay have given me on when I may receive my funds. It's pretty vague.
"Funds will be available after we can confirm delivery
Although the buyer has paid, the funds will be on hold until 1 day after we can confirm delivery. Keep in mind it may take longer to get paid if the buyer reports a problem or we detect an issue with the transaction. Learn more about payment holds. "
How I read this is as follows, eBay will hold my money for longer, should they wish, or if it takes them longer to confirm delivery, which is what bugs me. So basically even if the postman does his job and marks as delivered and it all updates. Ebay may still hold my money beyond this point?
How long really before I see the funds?
I'm not interested in generic response / links to small print from those of you lucky enough to have older accounts that weren't subject to payment holds.
I would like some feedback from users with the actual experiences of these payment holds.
Did you get the money? If so how long did it take? Any issues or problems?
Many thanks

Thanks for your response.
I believe my issue was linked to setting up a new account, which had new cards linked to it.

ebay is playing the same scam as paypal did for years. they will keep your money as long as possible to earn interest. in 2024 payment take minutes to go straight in to account, yet ebay still keeps your payout money for 4 days before you get it. there is absulutely no reson to put a £10 payment on hold! £100 or more you can understand

eBay do not make any interest on ' hold money' as they do not have the money, it's the payment processor Adyen processing this.

I had mine on hold until it was confirmed as delivered. Money got released as soon as it was confirmed as delivered.

Im surprised you asking here rather than contacting live support on ebay.

I have been selling since 2003, I sold 4 items this month, around £1200.
I just sold an item for £100 to a buyer in Mexico through the global selling system , and I've had payment put on hold!
Not sure what's going on

You are an infrequent seller plus the last few items you have sold are high value hence the payment hold.

From my experience and many others on here ebay seem to hold your money for at least 30 days and play dead meantime. Its clearly an ebay racket so I have given up selling on here now.

I just wonder how ebay knows when someone receives goods. I have just sold a bicycle and the buyer collected it and i would like my money. How do I get it. I have written to ebay to say he has collected it but i cannot expect the buyer to bother to write to ebay.

For collection items eBay provide a collection code to confirm receipt:
After you’ve completed your purchase, we’ll send an email with a collection code (a QR code and a 6 digit code) to your Messages - opens in new window or tab. You can either print off your email or show the seller the message on the app when you collect your item. The seller will scan or enter the code on the eBay app to confirm you’ve collected your item.
Once you’ve collected the item, you can also confirm this directly in the order details.

How relevant is it to the question at hand? What is relevant is why ebay withholds the money for a sale.
I don't see any logic in why it is whether you make 1 sale or 100 sales per month that determines whether you can get your money.
ebay has received the money, and should not earn interest on withholding people's money.
Paypal doesn't seem to be an option anymore, which was otherwise the best payment method.

Agreed. I also notice they have stopped paying me same day cuz my sales have dropped. I find that mean. Was getting my money by midnight on same day for ages and now its the next day. No doubt move to a few days shortly

Hi, it is a new thing on eBay at the moment and it does not matter how long you have been selling. You need to have a payment method on file to pay for your selling bills in other to get it lifted and eBay will not alert you to this. I have been going through this for last 32 days before an agent finally pointed this out to me.

I totally get it man. I am a new seller. Sold a digital piano...funds were withheld until this guy picked it up and then it went into my bank. I have good feedback yet Ebay are with holding my funds for at least a month. What they don't understand is I need that postage money for shipping & packaging. How is that fair for the guy or girl that purchased from me? They have my hands tied because if I wait a month untill "MY" funds are released to me then these paying customers are going to have to wait for so long. I also feel like all someone has to do is complain that a thread from the T Shirt wasn't to their liking which means I have zero protection or rights when it comes down to this kinda thng. I currently have over £60 sat waiting "on hold"...why should I wait until this is cleared before I send...and why the heck should some customer wait so long when they have paid (NOT ME BUT EBAY) their hard earned money, I also feel the longer they wait the more chance they are gonna think im a lazy not giving a person hence the more chance of a bad report. Ebay was so much better back in the early 2000's. I simply need that postage/packing money that was agreed in the deal before and during sale. Do I wait until Ebay have tranferred my money in 3 years or risk paying postage/packing fees out of my own cash without protection? And seriously, this last sale...I am that broke I don't have the fees to send the package. This whole Ebay holding your money which is rightfully yours is BEYOND outragous. I have come to the hard square decision that I will be informing the buyer as soon as Ebay releases my money I shall send them their goods. They can take it up with them. Why should I have to??

i asked why i couldn't get my money they said there was a place to click to get the money transferred to my bank its not there so i called them and "they will investigate it" I think they just are keeping the money longer as they must make money while its in their account. STILL NOT GOT MY MONEY EBAY

Me neither steve sold an item 5 days ago bought label from ebay been delivered still nothing called yesterday spent over an hour on the phone Juan told me there had been an error as rather than giving a customer a straight forward refund with their own money they used my available funds?? OK I thought but yet another day & still nothing very poor
