I'm a private seller. Items I sell are between £2.90 - £10. Is It just me or will ebay's new Buyers' protection fee from the 4th Feb make it near impossible to sell competitively. A few months ago Ebay got rid of Sellers' fees for private sellers, which was a welcome move. But this new change and getting rid of multi-buy discount for private sellers will make it worse than it was with the original fees.

I don't know what your seeing in my listing's that makes you think I'm not a private seller but there's something seriously wrong with your eyes and your judgement. Instead of criticising other people sort yourself out.

They weren't referring to you, they were referring to sandyhillselectronics

Ah bless - all the bitter business sellers crawling out of the woodwork to kiss eBay's nether regions because they don't understand people selling their personal collections sometimes.

I think it was inevitable that eBay would find a way to get the fees back in there, this time they are just slapping them onto the buyers, as to how buyers respond to this is another matter, but if people want something enough they will pay.. or people reject the fees and abandon eBay further.. as someone who sells junk many times per year I cant complain, but as someone who also buys junk for myself via eBay its upsetting..

Just sold one of my spare card for £1.99 so why would they need a extra 81p Buyers' protection ?

I’m the same. eBay does not want small priced items for sale. This latest move is an absolute rip-off and it just beggar’s belief that you will have to wait 14 days before you can actually receive your money while eBay (or should I say Greedbay) gets the interest all that time.
I am winding things up ~ it is the last straw for me.

blame ebay for that - the email they send will say hi your user name at the top and then the reply post, irregardless of if the post was in a specific response to one of the other post.
the_bald_orc was NOT referring to you - definitely to sandyhillelectronics who I'm fairly certain doesn't have a personal collection of New LEDs

I really wasn't accusing you - I don't know who you are. It's just the way eBay addresses the thread notification emails (which I'm sure we're all getting plenty of at the moment).

The bald Orc did not state "hi vaudinet" in their post?
They were talking to someone else

I started to sell my collections of stamps , postcards and covers a while back when each of my children and grandchildren turned down the chance of owning them.
I spent a large fortune on them since the age of 16 over 50 years.
They occupy a one room in my house. I have been selling them off for less than cost to cover the fees and postage just to move them on. Problem is I love listing , identifying them and it has become my hobby now.
I have no alternative but to change my account to a business one at the end of January or find a new hobby and dispose of this wonderful collection at a fraction of its worth.
I object to being forced to do this as the only stamps I have purchased in the last 10 years have been for cheap postage.I am not a trader, or a business but will now be treated like one unfairly.
I sincerely hope that business people on here gloating over business sellers with private accounts do not include collectors like myself.
Oh and when I am changed to a business account I will still undercut you all!!
It will just mean I get less of my outlay back, a business account that pays to sell at a loss!!

It was 'hi vaudinet' followed by an accusation that I am not happy with. If it wasn't aimed at me why was it addressed to me. Apology expected not a lame excuse from someone else.

That was the generic email from ebay letting you know that someone had posted on a thread you are following.

Doesnt have to be that way
There are ways to continue and perhaps look at avenues of improving revenue and maybe enjoying more. Platform is changing, probably best to see what developes
I think your comments aimed at business sellers are more likely to be from their frustration of persons or should say Businesses abusing the system, genuinely it has been abused.
Not looking to debate, just hoping you continue
Good luck

The whole point is I am not looking for ways to improve revenue.
I was quite happy selling most items for 99p free 2nd class postage.
I am not going to be smoking havanas and travelling business class doing that anytime soon now am I.
I am happy for other collectors to enjoy my stuff at a small cost thats all.
They will appreciate it more than anyone else I know, but Ebay seem hell bent on denying that to me.
I do accept that there are many abusers of the private sellers accounts on here, but I am not one of them but will be punished just the same.

I would like to know if the fixed 75 pence is per item of any quantity, or per order of any quantity of items?
It's ambiguous; an extra £1.50 minimum for just two "widget" items at 99 pence each, is somewhat exorbitant? But at least as a buyer I will now be able to interact with a chat bot or even, be kept on hold by an 'organic' customer services advisor. Yah.
My understanding is that 'buyer protection' already applies to all transactions on the platform, regardless of private or business status? So why pay again? Why disincentivise private seller transactions?
This might be thought of as the equivalent of the restaurant that adds extra service charges to the bill. You only eat there once.
