I'm a private seller. Items I sell are between £2.90 - £10. Is It just me or will ebay's new Buyers' protection fee from the 4th Feb make it near impossible to sell competitively. A few months ago Ebay got rid of Sellers' fees for private sellers, which was a welcome move. But this new change and getting rid of multi-buy discount for private sellers will make it worse than it was with the original fees.

What I can't find an answer to is what happens on auctions when they auto relist. Will they then changed it to the simple postage option. If so how do the know what size and weight the item will be?
They get the fee

What do you mean, they get the fee? What fee? I am asking about postage charges on auto relists

If you opted out you going to have to check everyone because they may auto tick the box for inclusion, but as the thread was on about the buyer fee i assumed you were asking about that my bad.

My understanding is the only way you can opt out is by ticking/unticking a box when you list a new auction. I want to know what happens when they auto relist the auctions I already have running. I assume I will have to cancel every relist and amend the postage option.

Ebay are acting like trump at the moment buyer fee, and at the very last hour but not on everything, in the last minuet only on electricals, one second to go for now.
Trump tariffs, last hour not just yet we are in that last hour on tariffs .

Yes anything under £10 isn't worth cinsidering.

Did this come into force yet? As I am not seeing any added fees.

Its been put back to the 6th
04-02-2025 1:21 PM
No, apparent in electronics only, but people monitoring are disputing this. I think they are wondering what to do! **** 'em.
04-02-2025 1:22 PM
Thank you, hopefully the 6th never comes

Its very confusing. Hopefully they will back track.

What has? The electronics "phase in" or the whole lot? Why don't eBay have the guts to let us know?
04-02-2025 2:25 PM
Because they know they've messed up big time and are scrambling now to avoid total disaster - private sellers leaving in droves, buyers not informed about the BPF and royally p**** off, falling share prices, all caused by eBay's greed.

Great. I have no sympathy whstsoever.

ebay told me that its all categories other than Motors etc
But as the person I spoke to could barely speak English I might be mistaken

Yes me too.
I retired and have lost lots of weight so wading my way through suitcases, wardrobes and drawers full of clothes I no longer need or can wear - all great condition but looks like I'll have to sell on Vinted now.
