Ebay hanging on to sellers money again.

Looks like ebay is introducing a new ploy to hang on to sellers money again from February.

Now we're all expected to send out items in good faith and wait until they've been  delivered before receiving payment.

I can't see this going without issues, what if the buyer doesn't acknowledge receipt of the item? Or the postal service lose things in their sorting offices etc? (Happened twice last year)

Will we have to send everything tracked /signed for?

Increased postal costs are only going to put buyers off.

And why should sellers be made to pay out for packaging materials and postage costs before receiving any contribution towards it?

Since ebay ditched their exorbitant fees the whole service felt like it had improved greatly. This feels like another scheme to maximise their own profits/interest for very little effort, whilst alienating sellers and impacting buyers choices.

I could be wrong, maybe it's just me, happy to have it all explained if I've misunderstood.

Re: Ebay hanging on to sellers money again.

There are loads of lengthy threads already up and running here on Seller Central about this, I'd take a look at those and maybe join in the discussions there.

Re: Ebay hanging on to sellers money again.

Yes, it's a downright cheek. This can only benefit Ebay who can hang on to a sellers funds for up to 14 days - earning interest as I'm sure they will.  I have logded a complaint by telephone and can only urge all sellers and buyers alike to do the same.  This will not benefit sellers or buyers in any way at all - I'd like to hear from Ebay as to what benefits there are for either side from this change. For a small seller selling up 50 items what if he doesn't have the money in his account to cover in excess of £100 in postage until Ebay sees fit to pass the money on. For the buyers they will end up paying more for shipping as sellers insist on mailing recorded, registered or tracked to hasten the turnaround on payments. It's hard enough getting feedback - are we to assume buyers will contact Ebay to confirm reciept so as to free up funds? Not only is it greedy it's badly thought out.  Mass resistence is urged or Ebay will walk over sellers and buyers alike.

Re: Ebay hanging on to sellers money again.

i've decided ebay isnt for me after this, its the final straw. ebay has been declining for years and most of my customers now come direct to me instead, the items i sell are only about £10 with free postage, they say i can either have the money once its been delivered which would mean charging more money to include a tracked service or i can wait 2 weeks to get the money if i dont send it tracked...

that's not happening, so end of Jan will be my last sales with ebay unless they change this decision.

i've got 100% positive feedback and have been with them over 10 years, they should implement this for sellers who are new or have a bad track record.
