Well finally after changing the format of their selling platform it seems every couple of weeks you have come up with the ultimate level of stupidity with this latest total ridiculous set of changes. Nobody is going to wait what could be weeks to be paid for a item they have sold who ever dreamt up this idea much be so far from reality as needing to push every part time seller off the site. I knew when they came up with the idea of free selling it wouldn’t be long before the idiots that run eBay came up with totally and ridiculous idea to claw back the money they have lost the whole senior management team at EBay must seat round a table all wearing clown costumes saying what is the most stupid idea we can come with to really get rid of half of our customers and the biggest clown wins with this idea and all the other yes people follow. Well I had started selling a few bits again but never again and will not be using EBay again to sell anything it has become a total joke of a company I hope your poor and flawed decisions finally catch up with this once great place to buy and sell has become a total joke.

Completely agree. We just have to hope that it all goes spectacularly wrong next week and it doesn't take long for ebay to implement an embarrassing climbdown. I will be doing my part by not buying anything on here until its changed back.

Good to see you @bittyboy101 and all the best for 2025... I feel the same way... sad days ahead for many - perhaps when it hits eBay's "profits" later in the year they will see it is not " workable!" They forget we are real human beings , not a " number" for their " algorithms?"

Private sellers do not pay for a " shop"... they have a shop on their page because eBay introduced it in their new layout, but have never heard of private sellers paying a monthly subscription for a shop?

Hi Vintique Violet 🙂
Many thanks for your well wishes, Likewise and Happy New Year 2025 to you too 😎😎😎
It's a shame it's now come to this, I have now ceased selling on eBay for good and ended all my 59 listings for the very last time 😞
I was hoping for maybe a sale or two before I go... but sadly people just watched, wasted the time and didn't do anything so that's it now 😞
So long eBay... It was good whilst it lasted....

Stopped all buying from ebay last year - source elsewhere now.
03-02-2025 12:03 AM
I have had that very same thought... private sellers " guinea pigs"... Next....

eBay have MBG... the BPF offers nothing more than a " service of a " customer chat 24/7 " for buyers... If eBay can find a way around to make additional fees from business sellers, they will and call it a " service?" or something or another.

I am taking down my listings tomorrow before midnight.
Three weeks ago I wasn't even getting views and suddenly today one item I have listed has nearly 500. That astounded me.
I made 4 sales in 3 weeks which was for gold pendant chains I had surplus to requirements after selling pendants. I don't know if that made the difference or not.
What I did was make my titles as basic as possible and gave all the details in the listing.
I rely on RM doorstep collection but print my own labels and won't be told how to post my items.
Similarly I don't want to be dependent on someone deciding if I get paid or not and if they don't say they've received their item waiting 14 days for my money.
I can see this system becoming a scammers paradise.
Order a piece of jewellery or clothing for an event, wear it and then return it with INAD claim.
Today I've received a stunning jacket bought from a business seller, cheaper than elsewhere and a sundry item that was cheaper than B&Q.
I will still peruse eBay for buying but my selling days after nearly 17 years are over unless things change back to a better system. My feeling is that business sellers will stop offering free postage.
My selling was purely items I clearing out, good makes and quality. There is a second hand dress shop I can take clothes to now, which might not generate as much but I won't have all the hassle with eBay. Shame because I enjoyed selling and making sure my buyers, some of whom were repeat buyers, were happy with honest descriptions and photos in my listings.
I sold and treated my buyers as I would want to be treated with 100% feedback which is exemplary over nearly two decades. EBay's loss.
Well done for getting some sales on eBay.
500 views on that one item is phenomenal ! - I think the eBay viewer bots over did it a little LOL ! 😁
I hated ending all my items just when they were also starting to get views and multiple watchers... but sadly it seems I didn't have any choice as eBay are determined to scope everyone under their "big company" wing and convince all buyers that they are not buying from private "scally sellers" but from a BIG and repeatable enterprise company with LOTS OF PROTECTION FOR BUYERS ! and nothing to safeguard sellers from receiving a raw deal. 😞
Now they even want to manage the deliveries of private sellers, completely undermining them and taking over their business... I hated the managed delayed payments that they forced us all into 3 years ago... It was a huge comedown to us all being used to receiving our payments for sold items by PayPal INSTANT PAYMENTS... instead of a long 24 hour delay which I could just about put up with... 😞 😞
...But now as if that wasn't bad enough ?... they now have come up with "managed delivery" and a new money after confirmed delivery policy which is enough to tip anyone over the edge !... well that was the final nail in the coffin for me now after a very poor 2 years of hardly any sales on eBay compared to what I used to get... this is certainly the end for me as an loyal eBay seller for 18 great years...

Yes we do i've had one for 20 years and pay £20 a month and they have just taken it my mistake seeing i will probably leave very soon. I just had it to put things in order i suppose, will stop it now anyway because there won't be much in there when i have time off tomorrow it might be and probably will be for ever

Well I have never seen this or been offered this in 17 yrs - why would you pay for a shop on a private account when the layout has shop on it anyway and directs people to your " shop page listings?" If they are taking payment by "mistake" may I suggest you contact ebay and get your money back?
edit. spelling

Well said. This is exactly why they had a massive drive to encourage more private sellers. Private seller aren't selling their giving their property away in hope that eventually eBay will release funds. So where is the buyers/sellers money being held? in eBays bank account making lot's of interest. It's in eBays favour to hang onto it making interest for as long as possible so they're conspiring with their simple delivery couriers to not mark successful deliveries. This is how they'll counter balance the loss of selling fees. Does eBay realise they need buyers! Private sellers where those who engaged buyers looking for the best prices but now there's nothing for buyers to gain they'll purchase from more reputable platforms. They've lost me as a seller and also I won't buy from eBay & thousands are doing the same. The clowns will soon turn their attention to business sellers so watch this space as they self distruct. This is the beginning of the end of eBay.

Thank you and good luck for the future. @bittyboy101
I was tired of having zero to one or two views and ... nothing...whether it be 2 or 22 listings. It isn't worth the effort of photographing and listing, so with the hold on funds and the Simple Delivery which has further made the site incompatible for me to use ( not forgetting the ridiculous stealth tax for buyers with the BPF ) I am bowing out gracefully after 17yrs.
I see eBay shares are starting to fall... they have made a whole load of mess for what?

Have they? I would hardly call 0.44% a huge fall, pretty much all shares dropped yesterday due to Trumps tariff news and most are bouncing back today.

I didn't say a huge fall - I said they are starting to fall...
Time will tell...

But they aren't starting to fall? They are 22.91% up below is the last 6 months, I can't see a downward trend. There is a spike in Jan due to the news that eBay listings may appear on facebook.

It will go wrong...and spectacularly.
Get the popcorn ready.....

I bought a huge bag or three with the tenner from my January sales... £13.95 as per my January Statement... but obviously less £3.95 postage... Happy days 😉

Like I said , starting to - not sure what point you are trying to make...there are always spikes, shares/markets go up and go down, but today is Feb 4th...give it time for things to kick in.
