Well finally after changing the format of their selling platform it seems every couple of weeks you have come up with the ultimate level of stupidity with this latest total ridiculous set of changes. Nobody is going to wait what could be weeks to be paid for a item they have sold who ever dreamt up this idea much be so far from reality as needing to push every part time seller off the site. I knew when they came up with the idea of free selling it wouldn’t be long before the idiots that run eBay came up with totally and ridiculous idea to claw back the money they have lost the whole senior management team at EBay must seat round a table all wearing clown costumes saying what is the most stupid idea we can come with to really get rid of half of our customers and the biggest clown wins with this idea and all the other yes people follow. Well I had started selling a few bits again but never again and will not be using EBay again to sell anything it has become a total joke of a company I hope your poor and flawed decisions finally catch up with this once great place to buy and sell has become a total joke.

Actually I don't agree with these changes and have said so, so no I am not a bored troll!!
eBay should just weed out all those obvious business sellers using the private accounts to sell on to avoid paying fees and make them upgrade or stop them from selling.

There is a risk in cancelling and causing a refund when the payment is still pending as ebay may take the refund from your bank. You will also get a defect for cancelling.

I'm not going to get drawn into the fake private seller argument but your comment did remind me of something I thought of yesterday.
The delayed payments will get rid of the "scam short term loan sellers". The ones that pretend to sell but never actually send anything.
That actually is a real bonus, because they are all lousy bar stewards.

No. That's not how they've been doing it.
Yes, they do hold the buyers/your funds.
But if refunds are processed they don't take it from that, or haven't been.
They take it from your available funds, so other transactions. The next step in that process is your linked bank account.

I wasn't saying I agreed with the blanket usage of it.
Just saying that there is 1, just 1, only 1 benefit to it.

It specifically states in their terms and conditions that pending funds held are accessible to either purchase postage labels or to send refunds, so they are used for that purpose, are they not? If n o pending funds then from the bank account linked. So it would be the " pending funds held" first and then the bank? Or am I misunderstanding?

I think the way they advertised/worded it appears to be different from the way they are actually doing things, or have been doing things.
From every example I've seen they aren't touching the held funds for the related transaction. They've been taking straight from the sellers available funds instead. Funds from other sales. I'd assume if they don't have enough in that, their next stop will be the bank.

You should take anything told to you by eBay CS with a massive pinch of salt.
They have a habit of talking *bleep*.

'You are correct as explained to me by an Ebay agent yesterday.'

Ignore them........ a lot of absolute cobblers comes out of CS.
You'll get much more sense out of the mentors on here.

Thank you @andha-21 - well that goes against their terms and conditions and leaves the seller without funds or items doesn't it? ( assuming the funds held cover the returns and I would think it would considering they are not released until the seller is " happy."
It does seem to be a " catch all" for eBay and not in any way to protect the seller?

They only ever took for a refund of postage through my pending funds once at the beginning, they always take from available funds or after that bank. So i am giving back money i will never get and having to wait 2 weeks for it if that makes sense, probably does not, but nothing here makes sense any more. Every single thing is a lie like fixing the invoicing that they deliberately broke

Some maybe most seem to copy and paste the rules that don't work anyway
05-03-2025 3:27 PM
As i have said somewhere else the next step will be taking over refunds which is the only way we can combine postage now they want total control and it's getting there

Couldn't agree more, I now tend to offer things on local for sales sites through Facebook etc.
I offer to deliver if local too and that has worked a few times.
It's just such a shame though.....

Local doesn't really work for me i have no transport and am deaf and don't hear people at the door but yes a lot of people use it and they can still be paid with cash which is banned on here now

I've been a private seller on ebay for over 20 years. Nothing high volume just periodic sales of fairly high cost items. This latest eBay scheme is the last straw for me. I've delisted all my remaining items and will not sell on ebay again until they get rid of the ridiculous 'no payment until after delivery' rule. It's a green light to scammers everywhere and I will not leave myself open to a potential avalanche of false non delivery claims. Virtually no private seller protection left on ebay so I'm done.
