EBAY SIMPLE DELIVERY AKA "EVRI" A LICENCE TO STEAL ?.

This year January to June 2025 I have placed around 60 orders. Most have been sent by Royal Mail a few with Yodel but all have been delivered on time and undamaged.

4 other orders have been sent by Ebay Simple Delivery (Evri) - 2 were out for delivery but were never delivered, one arrived smashed to bits and 1 was delivered a bit bashed up but intact and taking value into account not worth making any kind of claim.

The Seller of one item managed to get through to a real live person at Evri only to be told they do not hold records of self employed couriers and have no way to find out who the courier was who failed to deliver an order to me. Which would have been clearly seen to be an LP (See Picture). The tracking updated a few times but nothing was delivered and Evri claim they have no way to find out about what happened to the parcel.

3 of the orders were for LP records so considering EVRI exempt "Vinyl Records" from loss or damage compensation why are Ebay allowing Evri to be used for record orders ?. I have never used Simple Delivery so I do not know if Sellers get any options on courier once simple delivery is selected. However I would have thought Ebay would prevent  sellers being able to send records with Evri given the fact records are exempt from compensation.

Most recently I ordered a LP from America for a friend . The cost not including postage was £103. Parcel duly made its way across the USA with USPS,then onto DHL but now I discover that it will be handed over to EVRI once it reaches the UK so to add to everything else it will be sent by a 5 day £20 max' value economy service. I do not expect the record to be delivered or if by some million to one chance it is that it will be undamaged. ( This could actually cost me a 40 year + friendship )

So who is responsible here ?... The seller for not checking on which couriers will be used and for not checking the parcel is adequately covered for loss/damage ?.

Ebay for allowing items to be sent with a company that list those items as not eligible for loss/damage protection  ?.

Ebay for partnering with a company who hand over orders to anonymous individuals that can just keep car loads of parcels with no fear of come back form Evri  ?.

In the mean time I have lost over £200 and no way to be refunded as items were sent by Evri so no compensation for the loss or the damage to the seller to pass onto me.

Picture relates to a parcel with a £40 record which was never delivered.

EBAY SIMPLE DELIVERY AKA "EVRI" A LICENCE TO STEAL ?.

Evri are simply stealing international parcels sent via the global shipping programme. I've had multiple parcels stolen and as a result never order using the global shipping programme, the last 4 items I've ordered from the US have been stolen once reaching the UK. It's impossible to get any support from Evri or ebay. DHL who handle the shipments on the US are good as gold but as soon as they reach the UK, the Evri couriers know they aren't tracked properly and have a licence to steal what they like and there's no repercussions. Ebay are a fault here for allowing such fraudulent activity to take place and continuing to renew their contract with Evri. It's absolutely disgraceful and ebay clearly couldn't care less!

EBAY SIMPLE DELIVERY AKA "EVRI" A LICENCE TO STEAL ?.

I used to use Hermes but switched to Royal Mail when they became cheaper and introduced a door-to-door service.

Of all the parcels I sent via Hermes I had no complaints about them arriving damaged — maybe because if I wasn't confident that I could throw the parcel downstairs I regarded it as inadequately-packed — and only had one lost/stolen.  The hassle of getting compensation for that (the item in question was a book so one of the few things not excluded) was also part of the reason for switching to RM.

Since making the change I've sent a few things via Evri which have been too large for RM.  However, having paid for collection, the last three have not been collected — on one occasion I did manage to drag it to the drop-off point and got a lift there with the others.  I once managed to speak to somebody at Hermes/Evri (I can't recall which it was at the time) and was told they'd refund the extra I'd paid for collection but I never received it.

As for the huge list of things that Evri won't pay compensation on it's very similar, if not identical, to every other courier I've looked into at any price-point.

I agree that e-Bay shouldn't be encouraging their use but an out-right ban would be a problem for Sellers who no longer have a local Post Office or RM Delivery Office to take parcels to and aren't around in the day to deal with collections.  Given that POs now take Evri parcels hopefully RM will start to collect from newsagents, corner shops &c at some point.

If I had to use the likes of UPS or DHL I wouldn't sell anything as Buyers wouldn't be prepared to pay their charges, as I wouldn't as a Buyer, and most things still wouldn't be covered if lost or damaged.

Cacas vendit.
