Re: EBAY NEW RULES FOR PRIVATE SELLERS FROM FEB 5TH

I think most business sellers would welcome - no fees and a 2 day hold on payment with a maximum 14 day hold if no proof of delivery -  we would benefit far more than ebay

The whole of the new system is aimed at occasional sellers of unwanted personal used items which are gathering dust which give the seller 100% profit as they have no value - only what someone will pay for them.

Before anyone gets on their high horse think about unwanted personal items - Does anyone buy a dress for example to wear or to sell in the future ? If you are a personal seller you buy it to wear and when you have had enough of it rather than bin it ebay are encouraging people to pass it on and whatever  is received be it 1p or £1 it is 100% a bonus.

A seller with zero costs will wait a couple of days for their bonus money after all they have not bought the postage, nor the item to resell, it's just a way of disposing unwanted unloved clutter with financial benefits !

If they want instant money to pay a bill go to a car boot -

hang on it's Monday next car boot is Sunday that's a six day wait - oh yes and a £10 fee to sell at the car boot before you try and sell - and with an occassional item that you might or might not sell it has to sell for £10 before you break even - then there is the time and fuel getting there, selling and getting back and you may end up £10 down !

Seems ebay new system isn't all that bad - sit at home - use the simple listing tool, pay nothing and sit back with no hassle -

The sellers who have 1000,s of dresses in different sizes to sell constantly through out the year are not occassional sellers whether they are personal or not is irrelevant.

Now what was it you were complaining about ?

Re: EBAY NEW RULES FOR PRIVATE SELLERS FROM FEB 5TH

Totally disagree where's the perks for being a business seller ? There isnt any! Private sellers used to pay 15% when everything is added up and business sellers only pay less if they have a shop so it was about equal. I knew there was a very big rabbit away when Ebay announced free seller fees for private sellers to me it sounds like some idiot at Ebay suggested it they went through with it then someone else said oh *bleep* this isnt going to work so lets make things even more difficult for private sellers because we want rid of them anyway. Ebay always thought it was going to be Amazon the way they word their messages to buyers its as though the buyer is buying the item direct from Ebay who sells nothing at all this new payment system from February will be the end of ebay! Ebays business model is absolutely backwards with all their rules and regulations. I am surprised they have lasted this long to be honest their policy is greed and nothing else.

Yes, our sales were down because of the businesses abusing private accounts to undercut us, it is well documented across a lot of sellers.

That's the real nub of this matter here, isn't it. Private sellers, individuals selling 'collections' and bric-a-brac, did nothing to cause this, the issue is errant 'business' sellers (traders) opening "private" accounts in order to avoid ebay fees.

In reality ebay brought the issue upon themselves and are now proposing a solution which will make (some, if not all) 'innocent' members suffer for it.

That might suggest "Free to sell" was either extremely 'short sighted' or, perhaps, a less than candid stratagem.

Re: EBAY NEW RULES FOR PRIVATE SELLERS FROM FEB 5TH

Which is exactly what I have done,  I have been on here 15 years , occasionally you get a rip off buyer who claims an item never arrived even though royal mail tracking say it dud and ebay ALWAYS sides with the buyer. I have took these losses on the chin . It is a step too far now for me to sell something pay to post it , I ALWAYS post tracked , and then have to wait untill the buyer confirms its delivered before I get paid.  NO I can't agree to that there are a percentage of losses to dodgy buyers already.  NO WAY will I be waiting untill after delivery to get paid . As you suggest I have deleted anything I had for sale

Re: EBAY NEW RULES FOR PRIVATE SELLERS FROM FEB 5TH

eBay has never required a buyer to confirm an item has been received, do you have any links that confirm the process because I may have missed this.

eBay will always side with a buyer if the tracked item doesn't show has delivered, if this is the case you claim through the carrier.

You may have missed the 4 items you still have listed, because you mention you have deleted everything you have for sale?

It does look like you're a business if I'm honest, I may be wrong so the new policies won't apply to you.

Re: EBAY NEW RULES FOR PRIVATE SELLERS FROM FEB 5TH

Really upset - I dont make much and on a pension - if I make £1 after making and paying the postage - ebay dont want us private sellers anymore - running down the listings and will no longer participate after 25 years - I not fair - I love making my draught excluders but will  now try and find somewhere else.  The way they automatcally inflate your listing price without explaining to potential buyers is totally wrong.

Re: EBAY NEW RULES FOR PRIVATE SELLERS FROM FEB 5TH

Don't delete all your listings move them to another platform.

That is what I am looking to do, I can even get a shop on other platforms.

Yes it will cost me a small fee but not a monthly fee as eBay charges.

I do not want a business on eBay or anywhere else. I just have stock in boxes around the house which I want to clear. I can undercut a business because I do not have the overheads, eBay monthly fee to pay, storage costs, etc.

If my sales cripple a business then they should take a close look at their business model !
