I am not sure if you have all worked this out or not.
When I relist an item it has
"Simple Delivery will override your domestic postage policy. Dispatch time will be set to 3 days"
Underneath my postage policy.
SO does this automatically override my policy or does it only apply if the customer chooses it.
I did one today, printed the label and took it to my local post office. I asked how much it had cost and it was £2.80 the item was a small C6 or A6 envelope usually 85p second class.
The item was sold for £1.25 then add EBay new fees and then add Simple delivery, so the buyer paid £4.72 that's nuts.
Does anyone think this will KILL small value sales ?
I worked for a big company that worked continuously on driving margin against cost and they always pushed for higher value and less service to drive profit. EBay are now doing the same I think, cutting the tail, the small stuff in favour of higher value higher return items, or get the sellers to take the hit.
I think it's time for a mind reset when it comes to EBay, I have started combining "lots" so I can ask a higher price to see if this looks more desirable to the potential buyers....
Time will tell.
EBay will only push this further as they strive to increase ADV. average delivery value and move towards a more secure service for the "Customer" by slipping in tracking on the PP cost.
I also sell on DelCampe, etsy and EBid, but the volumes are always with EBay and they know this so we are at the mercy of what drives their profit.
Does anyone have any other ideas to maintain sales in light os increasing costs to the customer?
