They did say that no matter the value (under 750) the Ebay policy covers for the value of the loss if using Tracked 24 or 48.

Does Simple Delivery have a cover limit for items during transit?

No, there is no cover limit for eligible items with Simple Delivery. They are fully protected for the amount they were sold for on eBay.

To ensure complete coverage, be sure to use the prepaid Simple Delivery label provided by eBay, and post the sold item within your stated handling time.

Call me cyncial, but I'm struggling to see how that could actually be true,

It doesn't matter whether it is true or not.

The advantage to the seller of using SD is that, if the item gets lost en route, or arrives damaged, you will not be responsible.

The buyer will claim from Ebay.

As you are no longer responsible for buying the postage - buyer pays Ebay who send you a label or QR code - you are not responsible for the safe arrival of the item posted.

Buyers can still claim against you for 'not as described' but not for items not received.

There’s no limit until the limit is reached which is £750 with SD

thats why items over that are allowed to be sent custom delivery , they’re not eligible for SD

So it is that simple then. Just for clarification then, I as the seller, list an item with my required purchase price or start price if it's an auction. I do not put a cost in for postage as this I assume will be done by eBay direct to the buyer together with their ''Buyer Protection Fee''. I am no longer responsible for post apart from printing off the already paid for label, paid by the buyer direct to eBay, and taking to the post office or whatever courier eBay decided, one hopes not Evri as they are the worst courier company on this planet, but if eBay are responsible, not my problem if things go wrong. Is that all correct, is it that SIMPLE!

Pretty much.

Make sure you put the weight and size on your listings so the postage is adequate.

You don't have to use Evri - you can choose to only send with RM (I have!).  See the 'postage preferences' link below to deselect Evri.

You'll automatically be opted in to use all carriers that are available in this programme. If you would prefer not to send your items with a particular carrier, go to the Simple Delivery settings in your Postage preferences - opens in new window or tab and adjust the toggle next to the carrier.

Have a read here and follow the links for all of the information direct from Ebay.
