Collection In Person - Suddenly added to new listings without warning!

I just listed a new item today, everything seemed fine but then when looking a few minuits later I  realised Collect In Person had been added to my listing (I did not activate this option)

I do not want to offer Collect In Person and will only use tracked and insured postage (You are not covered by seller protection if you allow a person to collect an item) 

At the very least ebay should warn member that this option is now activated by default.

If like myself you are used to using a fast template to list an item this is very easily missed.

Ebay please make sure to warn sellers that you are changing defaults, or even better leave it to the seller to change their options!

Thank you for the heads up,   I have just checked mine and it says collection also -definitely not put by me...whilst I do offer this for certain items  ( larger /heavier) when required. So have just spent 20 minutes ensuring postage only.

This has happened to me too - all other delivery methods are greyed out and I can’t elect to use post/courier service. It’s not due to the size/cost of the item.  I can’t find how to change this so I select a carriage method. What’s the solution please?

Also be careful when using 'Sell Similar'. Even if the original listing was postage only, the 'similar' one will often revert to 'postage and collection'. 

Another issue I have had using 'sell similar' is that ebay often strip out my return option, and state 'no returns'.

Basically now, it takes so much longer to list something using 'sell similar' as you have to check that every little thing is as it was in the original.

(And I really don't see why we can't select our own 'default' - all my items are postage only, so I never need the other three options)

I always get caught out with this too.

For some SILLY reason it always seems to default to collection in person & Postage, never POSTAGE ONLY like it was previously set.

eBay should give users an OPTION TO SELECT THE SETTINGS THEY WANT FOR ALL OLD AND FUTURE LISTINGS AND THEY SHOULD THEN STAY ON THIS DESIRED SETTING.

This has literally just started happening on my listings today. I don't want to arrange for strangers to come to my home. So I have had to select postage only, which then removes the option to use click and collect, which it seems is not an option on eBay anymore.  Perhaps it's yet another glitch, but for now I've turned off collection option as the only option on the listing is my home. Not happening.

Your listings are showing C&C again now.

It may well be that it went off your listings and then came back.  The same happened to me when I switched off the collection option, click and collect went as well but it did come back.

Ebay!  Such fun!

No great loss.  Click and collect just causes problems with uncollected parcels which may or may not be returned to the seller.

That is exactly what happened! When I checked later, no collect at home, and click and collect on again. Sorted. The joy of the eBay glitch. 🙂

So do I. Discovered it by accident last week. Not pleased. Have had to check and revise listings individually. Can’t find out how to stop it being the default mode. Fed up.

I agree totally. I have had the same experience over last few days. I did not select this option and do not want it. Had to revise my listings accordingly. It obviously isn’t a glitch as it keeps happening. So annoying. Come on EBay sort it out please!

The defaulting to collection as well as postage has been happening for a couple of weeks now. Another arrogant and unannounced move from ebay. It seems to only be affecting private seller accounts. For anyone wanting to remove it from all listings quickly without going into each listing and revising, go to your Active Listings page, select all and select edit. This loads the bulk editor and there one of the options in the dropdown there is for collection so you can turn it off and on for all listings with one click. Then submit and you're done.

Still a problem, when items auto-relist or using sell similar. The bulk editor mentioned above doesn't include it. The postage preferences do not include it. You can't even see which items it is on without going into them. If anyone wants to collect, I will have to cancel the order.

Add this to random changing of auction days and adding 'allow offers' to eBay's list of ways to force you to sell their way, at your disadvantage.

This has been happening to me for months,  that is,  when I select Sell Similar some,  not all listings,  the Delivery Details skips to Postage OR Collection in Person , when the original listing had Postage Only.

Another thing to check is your Returns policy.

Some sellers on relisting or using Sell Similar,  have seen this change to Accepts Returns original listing stating No Returns.

It's been a bug for many months, I did report it , was asked for a screenshot,  but little did that help , it's still happening to my listings ,  too.

From 3 February 2025 I will be cancelling all my listings on eBay for the last time.

eBay have really ruined everything with their HORRIBLE new manged delivery policy starting on 4 February 2025.

There is absolutely no way I am ever letting eBay manage the delivery of any of my items - NO WAY  !

I will however keep eBay monitored to see if they will come to their senses and ABOLISH THIS AWFUL NEW  PHASE WITH "MANAGED DELIVERY" AND PAYMENT DELAYS THEY NOW SEEM TO BE GOING THROUGH...

If the site becomes sensible again I will happily come back and sell on eBay once again... but if they decide to just stick to their guns... with a couldn't care less attitude... then it's GOODBYE eBay....  😞

Me too, I can not seem to remove this option by editing the listing, I do not want collection in person on any listing, How to remove ??> Help please,  Also although I have changed my Address in settings the post code showing on the listing is my old address,  I have recently moved house, eBay what have you done,

On Checking my listings again some but not all have had the collection in person removed now but the location of item is still my old address, I will try to ring and speak to an agent and find out what is going on, I suspect an eBay upload that has gone wrong as usual, eBay is a nightmare, No sales either,
