I’m currently selling a lawnmower on eBay and it’s too heavy to post. A member messaged me to see if it’s still for sale and would I accept a lower price. I’m happy to do that so they said they can come over this afternoon to collect and pay for it in cash but eBay won’t allow me to send them my address for collection.

Ebay has banned cash on collection. The buyer has to pay through ebay, then they will receive your address. Ask them to bring the collection code they will get from ebay. That will release the money to you

Ebay have banned cash payments to stop cancelled sales which avoid commission.
It's all about safeguarding their fee. In the process, they expose you to huge liability, because the buyer can collect the item, then open a spurious claim afterwards that there's a problem with the item, and you have a nightmare trying to access your money and getting the item back.
It's better to sell on Gumtree or FB Marketplace, where a buyer has to hand cash over to you when they collect the item from you.
No one hands over a second hand lawn mower to a random buyer without getting paid at point of exchange.

Hi crispygill75, thanks for your post.
I just want to clarify that if the listing in question didn't include collection, the buyer might not receive a QR/collection code as the listing was not set up for collection. If it was, then they will, and you will be ok to hand over the item. Just letting you know as not receiving the code, could delay the releasing of your funds, and buyer might be able to file an item not received case.
Thank you,
Marco
