So the new "Buyer Fee" has been imposed
How will buyers deal with Buyer Fees being imposed when they buy from an OBVIOUS business with hundreds or thousands of listings for Brand New items?
When the seller is obviously a business?
I for one will be complaining to CS when business sellers try to sell me items and the Buyer Protection fee is imposed because the seller is trading on a Private account. I will also leave appropriate feedback if I go through with the sale.
Will you? Or will you do something else?

Why would you be looking to buy from an unreg business? I don't see how you can complain unless you have bought from them. If you do buy from them, then you deserve all you get, and any bad feedback you leave will likely be removed.
In the past I solved the issue by never buying from unreg businesses.
In the future I am solving the issue by never buying on ebay, from ANY seller.

End of the day, you either choose to buy from a registered business seller (who will probably have a higher price on their item to cover their fees), or from a "private" seller with a lower priced item and pay those fees yourself. It will probably have a very similar effect overall on your wallet.

Those of us who are aware of the differences between business and private may well do something about it!
But I'm convinced that the vast majority of buyers on ebay don't know the difference, don't notice and don't care..... they only thing a lot will notice is the total price. How it's broken down won't worry them one bit..

What difference would it make to you as a buyer if they are a business or listed as private clearly you see the price you like and buy it or if its expensive then you do not buy it.
also chances are the price of the one whos not registered as a business will be cheaper than the business version anyway because you do realise a business account has a big monthly fee to pay to be a business as well as tax to pay as well as lisiting and other fees and this goes onto the price of a item.

exaclty, people choose to buy something on the price and if its cheapest on ebay so makes zero difference if the seller is registered as a business or not lol
and ebay litterally do not care if someone is really a business but using a private account anyway because end of the the day they will still be paying tax to the government as details are sent off now

I would check that the seller is registered as a "business seller" before I buy.
So will I in most cases, but I know what I am like, I WILL forget
And for some items, if I cannot buy them elsewhere I will have to buy from an illegally registered seller
I WILL leave feedback on those transactions AND report to CS though!

I will be using Google to shop more to look on other websites for items if they are only listed by businesses on Private accounts too, so eBay will lose sales to other sites

You sound like a right...i will not say.
So you are willingly buying from what you say is a illegal seller but will moan and complain after you get the item you bought knowing they are not registered as a business. Take a look at yourself for god sake

In my opinion that makes you no better - or no more honest - than the unreg business sellers you claim to dislike so much, but will buy from if needs be.

exactly and then when they got their item they bought knowing it was from a as they say illegal seller they will complain and leave bad feedback. if anything thats worse and shows some....issues they clearly have

I agree with the sentiment but this might have been better on the buyer board. Unless you posted there too.

I may be getting angry responses on this, but MANY buyers will feel the way I feel
Especially once they know that the fee only applies when they buy from Private sellers
Then they buy a brand new item from an obvious business and find an extra fee imposed (on higher priced items this will be significant) and they will NOT be happy. Especially if they have bought other items from properly registered businesses and not paid an extra fee.
Just wait until Feb, the boards will be full of buyers complaining as the "seller scammed them by adding extra to the price" which they see when they get to checkout, and as other sites have found, lots of abandoned baskets!
What will we advise them? To ignore it, when they buy from obvious businesses? Tell them it is their own fault? Yes of course we can tell them to check for Business/Private but many will feel "scammed". It will reflect on how buyers see ALL sellers too.

You clearly have zero idea what you are talking about....
"Just wait until Feb, the boards will be full of buyers complaining as the "seller scammed them by adding extra to the price" which they see when they get to checkout"
for a start as a buyer you will NOT see any extra amounts, all you will see its litterally 1 price before you decide to buy, also you will NOT get to the checkout and all of a sudden the amount will be higher because of the fees added. The fees are added on to the items price when it is listed by the seller so the buy does no see the original price that the seller listed it for just the 1 price with fees added on. this price will not change at the checkout so no idea what you are talking about.
the price a buyer sees on the items page before clicking BUY is the same price they see at the final checkout

They WILL see a breakdown of the charges at checkout, the charges have to be shown as eBay are charging them a fee (included in the price), which has to be disclosed to the buyer before they pay.
They will see that who they thought was a business seller is not a business seller and they will wonder why they have been charged a Buyer Protection fee when they thought they were buying from a business, especially if the seller sells hundreds or thousands of new items, tech for example.
A buyer will be mighty miffed to find their brand new computer costs 4% more as an eBay fee has been added, even IF it is included in the price. They will feel that it would have been 4% cheaper if the fee had not been charged. You have to think of buyer perception, which is not always logical!
04-01-2025 1:38 PM
They will also see the fee every time they bid on an auction
The fees will be more obvious as they bid but the fee for BINs will not be hidden, it cannot be hidden, it will be displayed a part of the total price when they get to checkout! Buyers WILL see it included in the price

well if that is the case it is tough all round, tough for the seller and tough for the buyer as why should sellers always get the worst part of it lol. from other posts of yours it seems you think it all should be piled onto the seller just so you can buy something cheap.
and this i know is true because you moaned about business sellers using private accounts and saying its illegal but you are still willing to buy from them so you get the item and then you will report them lol.
