If I sell something for £1 is it true that the seller is charged a 75p flat fee? That is so off putting as a buyer and seller.
If I send an item via Royal Mail's untracked service when will I get paid - will it be 48 hours after the estimated delivery date.
These changes are rubbish for everyone. Surely they will impact sales adversely.

Dumb and dumber

I get it Mike, I really do.
It's only in the last few years that I've been more of a buyer than a seller.
I won't go too far into this, but back about 15 years ago, I fought eBay tooth and nail about their compulsory free postage thing. I was a bit of a ringleader - slight understatement - a lot more I could share!
I love eBay, but... 😐

They are already sending out forms for feedback. The problem is, most people just roll over and accept everything that is thrown at them. I won't stop trying to make a change but I also won't be a busy fool.

Yes and 10 quid on dearer items is too much. It's put me off 3 purchases this week alone.

I have thousands of small items, CDs and DVDs etc, which would mostly be listed for £1 plus postage (so likely around 1.99 to 2.49 per item).
So now the new fees will practically DOUBLE the cost of the item before postage?
So now I will be essentially selling DVDs and CDs for £2 plus postage.
ADDITIONALLY - 2nd class Large Letter and Small Parcels are not tracked, so that will ad nearly another £2 to the cost of postage.
So I could be looking at a final cost to the buyer of over £5 for a £1 item, that was previously around £2.50 for a £1 item.
There is no real alternative to selling small items.
And before the Business Seller hawks dive in and start devouring me - this is not a running business - it is a clearout. I am wanting to sell off a large part of my stuff, especially physical media, as I have too much. Which is essentially where eBay started.
I have little option but to carry on and see if the buyers are willing to stump up the extra, but I'll be holding eBay to a probationary period, and once this lot is sold I will probably just stop using eBay altogether, there's too much bad faith and ill will towards their own customer base these days.

I've tried explaining to ebay that so much plastic is now just land fill as it's not worth selling due to the fees. When I tried to explain that everything is price sensitive. Unbelievably, their reply was 'the prices will go up for every seller so it won't matter'. I mean, what a reply.

There is only so much a buyer will pay for an item and the buyer protection fee now means a selling price quite a way below that. With that and higher cost of tracked royal mail postage, any money made is seriously diminished on small items. Ebay need to make some sort of change to improve matters.

Ruined all my selling as a private seller! Much rather the seller fee!

Could you PLEASE stop saying the same thing, on many threads you mention Private account V business accounts, or HMRC and TAX, everyone and his dog knows this, ebay OBVIOUSLY are not in the slightest bit interested or THEY would do something about it if they were.
You are spoiling the forums.

Quite clearly everyone and his dog don’t know what I post about or there would be no need for me to try to educate people.
I do not accept it is up to ebay to make sellers do the right thing, people have to take responsibility for their choices.
What have you contributed to the forums?

Apparently I am.

My contribution is to try not to bore everyone to death by being stuck on REPEAT.

Exactly.
As I said a few days ago, price points are VERY important and it's up to sellers to price their items as they see fit. In fact, many sellers are very good at doing this.
Boom, along comes eBay and blows this basic knowledge out of the park!

Silly sods - as if to suggest that customers don't look beyond eBay!
This reminds me so much of their mandatory free postage mess some 15 years ago.
Eventually they learnt the hard way and did a 180.
