A recent buyer, not only took well over a week to collect his package from the post office after several failed delivery attempts, but also had the cheek to ask for a return, after a further four days, when I had already received payment, citing that some stitching was coming undone on the leather bag strap.
My question is, how long can someone hold onto an item before the 'returns' button is not viable?
I thought the 48 hour wait for funds, after delivery, was the period within which the buyer recognised any faults or issues, particularly with an item like a bag. Obviously not.

Nope, it's not 4 hours.
Under eBay's 30 day MBG, Money Back Guarantee policy, a buyer has 30 days from the item's last estimated date for delivery to report a fault, or item not as described for a full refund.

MBG gives a buyer 30 days from receipt to open a not as described claim and return at sellers cost for a full refund. Also,in some circumstances,a buyer has 120 days from date of purchase to request a chargeback from their bank.

Thanks for your speedy reply. It just seems overly long for an item like this 2nd hand bag, which could be checked over in a minute and then used for several days. My bad.

Might not have been used straight away, so the fault in the stitching may not have been spotted until used, and some buyers make the error of not checking their item straight away, but way over eBay's 30 day MBG leaving themselves to claim from their payment provider.
Your buyer is in time to claim under eBay's 30 day MBG.
