I am planning on boycotting ebay until recent changes are reversed. Especially the poorly named Simple Delivery. Do you agree?

I agree, today I discovered that simple delivery is the only way . I listed an item elsewhere . I am concerned my listings I’ve had for over a year and less will have simple delivery imposed without me wanting that. I will refrain from listing anything else until eBay allows sellers to choose their own way of adding postage .
I may end all my other listings if eBay doesn’t see sense .

YES, I agree, lots of us are boycotting eBay due to Simple Delivery and the Buyer's Protection Fee.

Yes I agree. I reckon ebid is finally gonna take off proper because of this. 😄

There are quite a few places doing this now, one of whom I used to purchase Charlie bears from on Feebay. Looks like I might be selling the bears back to them now! I took all my listings down a week before April 25th which is when they announced they would start scamming sellers and robbing buyers as well as dictating every last aspect of buying and selling. I will never use them again for buying or selling until they put our choice of postage back (nothing to do with them how we post) and remove the biggest rip off fee ever, all t

Yes me too.
I'm quitting after 17 years as a Private Seller. Ebay have forgotten what their role is and are now interfering in too many ways.
See how the mighty get too greedy and controlling, fail and then fall!

Simple Delivery is too complicated, and doesn't take into account the vast differences in everything that you Post, whether you have to pack something very well because it's fragile or something, thus increasing the size or weight bracket, I have removed all my listings, and won't be selling on eBay anymore after 21yrs, I'm not sure there will be a boycott, but people will simply stop selling when they encounter all the problems with "Simple Delivery", I genuinely don't understand eBay, it's like tjey are trying to destroy what was once a brilliant platform to sell on.

yes i have stopped selling my 35p books have now become pounds 1.08 books and so few sell its not worth wile to continue

Done the same myself. Ludicrous attitude they have toward the private seller. The business sellers have their own agendas to look after (they wanted to make a business out of selling and there are massive numbers of these individuals). As far as Ebay advertising that it is free to sell now, the reality is unless you pay to have your item "promoted" it is unlikely that it will sell!

I Agree! .

Was in the process of listing some guitars and amps when the ramifications of Simple Delivery became clear - the only delivery service that I can currently send a guitar through is Evri (it's the only one that will accept a dimension of 120cm. These guitars will range from 300 to 500 so I have no choice except to ship with Evri (they are not worth more than 750). The fact that it's free to sell on ebay is attractive - but the idea of using Evri is terrifying. I used parcelforce before to get these things through delivery as fast as possible (24 hour option and it's cheap and they pick up from your home) you don't want a guitar, or an amp or a mixing desk rattling around inside Evri for days and days - tracking is poor and buyers have an expectation that the seller can somehow influence or update on delivery - with Evri I can't so if it takes 10 days to deliver I risk an angry buyer as well as the stress of waiting for it to be delivered. It hasn't been thought through for bulky / fragile / outsize items. Not to mention that with Evri I have to drop if off in the local shop where it sits in a basket next to the till!

For expensive and fragile items like yours, I would be tempted to add the postage to the price of the item/offer free post, then buy my own postage via Parcelforce. You can then apply for a refund for the unused Simple Delivery postage, that eBay will have charged you for.
I don't see why anyone should be forced to use a service they don't want, or don't trust, and run the risk of their items ended up damaged in transit.

Unfortunately musical instruments are on Evri's 'excluded from compensation' list. This means that if the item goes missing or is damamged in the post, you will lose your payment.
Ebay will refund your buyer, but Evri *won't* refund ebay or you.
Ebay have stated that 'items sold under Simple delivery are covered as soon as they are given to the carrier'....with the proviso that 'items conform to Simple Del. terms and the carrier's terms. (the exclusion list being one of the carrier's terms....)
Have a read of the thread called ' Simple Delivery failed; test case...worried'.
(I'm sorry, I've never worked out how to link!)
This will give you an idea of how ebay will be treating 'excluded' items....

Certainly contemplating killing my account after 23 years due to simple delivery and being forced to use the 2 worst companies on the planet for delivery. Far from simple for me and just expensive for potential customers. Very poor change from eBay.

I don't know if you realise, but notwithstanding E-Bay stating coverage up to £750, musical instruments have no coverage.

Sellers dont need to boycott, the buyers are doing that themselves as the Buyers protection fee inflates prices offered by private sellers so no sales. Sellers cannot afford to reduce prices to cover BPF as we aren't charities. Its hardly worth checking accounts daily to see yet another zero sales. I have some books to sell. WoB offer me 50p each. I could list on ebay and waste my time as with BPF and postage private sellers cannot compete with book business sellers. Last book I bought cost less than the postage I would have to pay to sell one. May as well give stuff to a charity shop then at least helping a good cause.
