Blind Drop Shipping... with Simple delivery!

I just wonder how this is possible? Obviously it shouldn't happen, but how is it actually possible?

I ordered something last week, didn't realise it was a Private seller , not bothered about that, however, I was wondering where it had got to, and took a closer look at the listing.

Blind Drop Shipping is stated and it did state 3-5 days  free delivery and i was happy with that, but i hadn't remembered it was  Easter so the 5th day will actually be next Tuesday.

How do the blind shippers get the SD label?  I don't think they can. The item is £11 and I tried listing it to see if i could get custom postage on it and I can't. Everything the seller sells is under £12, and my item would not fit a large letter. The seller is communicative (not in English though) and says my item has been sent, but Evri don't have it yet.

Does this mean that the seller must be charged for SD and get refunded for each SD label purchased. Don't they have to request refunds individually for each label? Or could the seller have a deal with the drop shipper to use the SD labels? I am intrigued.

As you say it definitely shouldn't be happening as a Business Seller account is required for dropshipping.  However, in theory there is nothing to physically stop a seller from forwarding the Simple Delivery label on to another party to use (eBay emails a copy of the label to the seller once generated) although I would imagine most suppliers would insist on using their own postage system.  If they are requesting a refund for each Simple Delivery label then, yes, that would need to be done individually for each label which I would expect eBay to put a stop to pretty quickly.

Maybe they just swallow the postage but generate the label to mark it as dispatched and use a supplier that offers free post. Imagine a drop shipper would just factor in the cost...only a guess though.

Thinking about it if their offering free post they could just add the cheapest service to their listing as their only going to use it for dispatching.

Depending on the size of his operation, your seller may just be claiming "blind drop shipping" to make his operation seem more professional (not very wise on a private account.)

There might be some wee guy in a flat in Basildon, ordering items from Amazon or similar, one by one, as they are bought on eBay, and then shipping them out using the SD label. If they're being allowed to operate on a five day delivery schedule, that would give them time to obtain the products.

I got my blind drop shipped parcel today delivered by Evri. It is an interesting work around they have got going on.
