This is the second post I have seen on this subject.
You need to take it up with Royal Mail.

Apologies, i'm at the anxiety stage of losing so much, i will get to the acceptance stage soon enough. Still though even their own website says £750

You could have taken out additional cover for the full amount up to £2500 max - did you? I use special delivery a lot and would take out cover for any package over the £750. I don't know if it is a lower limit, the £500, if you purchased it on an account though.

I could have but didn't. My point is im not even getting the 750 even though it says on their website basic cover is 750, when i go to file the claim they say its 500

I meant there was another post from someone else saying RM are claiming the cover is only £500.

I have found mention of a £500 limit, but it dates from 2008! https://postandparcel.info/20912/news/royal-mail-special-delivery-prices-to-go-up-uk/
I presume that they are using Horizon and out-dated software from that date that hasn't been updated to the new limit.

But its right there on their shiny new front and center page, "Compensation cover up to £750"

I know it is! I have been using special delivery for years, I was just pointing out that there was a £500 limit in the past.
I have found the Royal Mail account details - that is £750 also so that has no bearing on it.

Looks like everyone else is very confused too

I looked again and again but i cant see anything wrong, it should be £750. I guess i will bring it up to them if it comes to it and they dont correct the error. Thanks for that bit of 2008 info

I am sending a couple of Special Delivery parcels in the morning, I'll ask the PO staff if they know anything - most probably not as it will be internal Royal Mail workings.

Thank you, keep me posted

As already stated, the standard compensation for Royal Mail Special Delivery used to be £500, albeit that was some time ago now, so it could be that Royal Mail have just forgotten to change the amount in the text of that warning message.

I wouldn't put it past them, they still pay compensation by sending cheques in the mail like its still the dark ages

I asked - they said categorically that it is £750 with no mention of a £500 limit. They were of the opinion that it is just outdated software.

Try changing your amount of the claim to £750 as it is the maximum you can claim. I know it not the value of your goods but your not dealing with a human here.

Is this for the 'empty' box? Or have you had another parcel go missing?

£1615 according to his first post.
