AGE RELATE VERIFICATION POSTAGE

Trying to sell Victorian silver mother of pearl pen knives had a sale £115 then e bay took listing off because it said knives, said I must use the "age related verification postage" however the new postage system does not cater for this, spoke to an agent for 15 mins and he could not find an answer, said he would put me through to someone else but I got cut off, has any body any idea how to get this age related postage.

You are simply not allowed to list those particular knives on the site.  Fruit knives, penknives, cake knives etc, are prohibited.

If you look at the knives policy, Ebay only allow the sale of cutlery knives which are part of a set.

Re: AGE RELATE VERIFICATION POSTAGE

No I have seen similar sales of similar items in last month, just tells me Ok but to use age related verification, but not able, there must be other items besides knives etc that need a age verification, they have not got this facility in the system and are ignoring me, very frustrating when you lose a £115 sale, same buyer bought similar item 6 months ago no problem !!!

Re: AGE RELATE VERIFICATION POSTAGE

Did you read the policy?

This makes it clear that folding knives, such as the one you want to sell are prohibited:

The following or similar types of bladed products aren't allowed:

  • Axes intended to be used as a weapon, such as a double-headed axe, battle axe, throwing axe, spike axe, tomahawk or Viking axe
  • Multi-tool knives, craft knives, Stanley knives and Leathermans
  • Pocket knives, folding knives, Swiss Army knives and clasp knives

Re: AGE RELATE VERIFICATION POSTAGE

Just because some people are getting away with something doesn't mean they should be.

Business Sellers still control their postage in the old way so could choose an age-verified service.  They may also be being crafty on what they sell things as, eg calling a Cake Knife a Cake Server.
