300 listings per month for private sellers it is very bad as I am a Pensioner

I am a pensioner and since my husband past I have been using nearly all of 1000 listings per month as I am trying to sell things  (down sizing) to try & help make life a bit more viable with the cost of everything nowadays. It is a huge reduction for  private sellers 1000 down to only 300 per month. Good for businesses less competition. I spoke to an ebay agent on the telephone and complained about it and was told it has brought us into line with Europe.  Doesn't ebay know we are no longer in the EU so that arguement  falls flat on its face.

I am hardly selling many items anymore because of this so, I will look at other sites to sell on . Ebay I have been with you for over 16 years shame on you.

In the good ole days 99% of what we listed always sold

We have just been handed a load more inherited items...........from hubbys sister

I know what you mean, I don't remember having to throw away or give away a lot of unsold items.

But as ever there is a shrinking market for stuff. Younger people not into collecting stamps / coins / models etc... Separate online outlets for clothing that noted how badly this place was being run, saw their chance and took it to great success (it seems).

When I look back at what I used to have separate devices for (and therefore also a healthy second hand upgrade market) which can now be answered with the word 'smartphone' its scary. You can't give away e.g. a second hand DVD player now.

When I started on here you could just about still sell bundles of VHS tapes!

We never list clothes as i think it way too crowded a market on here and we do not sell on any other sites

We took two black bags yesterday to our local Charity shop......all good brands and a lot still with tags.

That was me just sorting out a couple of my wardrobes lol     I must avoid all NEXT sales 😞

So my partner years ago used to manage a cafe at a shopping centre.

They used to open early, I think half an hour after that was it 5am start ? NEXT Boxing Day sale?

So she would be there setting up and see it all kick off.

The tales she used to tell of fights, feinting, etc...

I don't think they do them now?

I actually have an avoidance to anything pre-fixed with " smart"...

I have never in my life  been to a Boxing Day Sale , could not think of anything worse... mind you don't they start them earlier now? 

Perhaps that's when it will " kick off" here...the New Year?

Yes they do 🙂   They had one a few weeks ago too .      My friend works at our local branch and she said i should get a job there......because that way i could get shares in the company.     No chance of me going before say 9 a.m. 🙂

If their idea is to attract new private sellers who will (allegedly / supposedly) use their proceeds to buy from (business?) sellers on site, why hide their listings?

Surely they have to sell things first (as sellers) in order to have the money to spend (as buyers)?

If their listings are hidden, they won’t sell - so no money to spend?

Yes the impression I get is they pretty much start Xmas Eve! And no special openings.

My partner was never into that sort of madness even if she hadn't been working!

Thankfully she is now in a job where there are no weekends, bank holiday or evening working. I just need to follow 😀.

My son only has Christmas Day off work this year 😞    Past few weeks he has been working week ends and often 12 hour days.     He still has time to shop online (from official outlets) as i get several deliveries a week !!!!

IF one is a VIP next customer you can shop before the actual sale starts for other customers......

I'm doing 2pm to 2am Xmas day but they have been kind and adjusted hours for Boxing Day, special shift 6pm to 2am 😂

Giving me time to do the dreaded 4 mile boxing day race 😂

I've copped it bad this year (seeing that I'm PT), as long as they don't change the rota (hmmm 🤣) I should be good for the next 2-3 years to not work Xmas.

Your first sentence is Ebays theory....in practice i do not think it will work and also new members will soon leave once they realise its not fast cash due to payment holds etc.

My opinion is...most do not use their funds to buy on Ebay.  They will prob use them to help with cost of living constant price increases.

I have no clue as to why listings appear to be hidden BUt saying that ages ago i did queery this with Ebay CS.  They did say they would put my listings on another server which did indeed spark my listings into life.   So maybe they were on a dead server........who knows.

New eBay account from 2 days ago... maybe eager... 

No listings no sales no nothing... maybe on the " payroll? " as an encourager.?
