2x cancel requests on International sales in the last week, buyers protection fee the culprit?

Having had these two cancellation requests in the 3 weeks, something that very rarely happens, I took a look at some listings and noted how for ones that I only have global shipping programme as the option for International shipping, if I select the country, there is no longer a quote for shipping costs.

Therefore the buyer is buying blind to a degree. In the past the total shipping costs would be shown. It's therefore not a surprise that the buyer may be be surprised to learn the total costs only AFTER agreeing to buy, and wishes to cancel.

Is this a blip, or is this something that now been adopted. Seems a very odd thing if it is permanent.

2x cancel requests on International sales in the last week, buyers protection fee the culprit?

That could well explain this quirk I discovered. (On the back of trying to understand why I had international orders requesting cancellation, and one of the buyers actually told me they didnt realise how much to total would come to when they made their offer).

It depends where the buyer is located and which eBay site they are trying to purchase through.

A French buyer purchasing a GSP item from a UK seller through eBay.fr will have (French) VAT added to any offers they make or the item's BIN price and customs duty if the item price exceeds €150 (the GSP shipping charge is displayed separately).

If the same buyer was purchasing through eBay.co.uk the BPF would be added to the above however such a buyer can no longer choose a GSP shipping option during purchase. eBay does not have a country-specific website for every EU country; many are just locally-translated versions of eBay.com whilst some EU countries (like Sweden) and many other countries don't have a local eBay website presence at all.

International buyers without a local eBay website will now need to purchase through eBay.com as they currently will not have GSP shipping options available if they try do so through eBay.co.uk. This also means they won't be subject to the BPF as that only applies to purchases completed on eBay.co.uk.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
