could i get help to identify a stoneware vase

I would be so grateful if anyone has any information on a stoneware (i believe it to be stoneware)vase,it's 7" tall with hand decoration to the front,alot of the vase is also decorated with brass layered like fish scales,their are no makers marks that i can see.

I have never seen one of these before; at a guess I would think maybe Japanese?
