simple delivery

hello every one I have read the new postage simple delivery  for small private sellers like me and I am very concerned its going to be ebay who decides what courier they think I should use, and even more concerned the buyer will choose .this is hermes evri the worst couriers I have never known, I am selling my antique dolls and send them the quickest and safe with my choosen courier .fully insured and next day delivery which I have done with my items for over 17 yrs. I charge my buyers a set amount but if my box and packing goes over I pay the extra for peace of mind. and the thought of them being sent via hermes evri scares me and I would not trust them with a teddy bear, ebay must let me choose my own courier but I am told I have no choice, antiques no matter what must be sent in a manner they deserve and the simple delivery is not . simple delivery is just that for clothes shoes and not breakable .not for antiques and items of great value, I have had my dolls for over 50 years and simple delivery is not going to happen, I do not want to leave ebay but I will take my antiques some where else, so many great sellers have gone, but ebay does not take the time to ask why. ebay must look after the private sellers like me but I doubt it .the big boys are more important,

Are you booked into the Simple Delivery option? If so, get rid of it.

Not that I know of but will check

even so why are eBay charging 50p more for 2nd class both on non and in opted simple delivery

or is it a typo on the options and when you pay it’s only 3.25

I don’t know because I’ve never bought it and had confirmation of the charge

At the moment eBay is not doing paid labels to give to sellers . But at the
moment Sellers pay for post upfront and they will hang on to your postage
the same as your sales.
My postage up front was £8.50 and I got it back 2 days after buyer received
there item.. I will hold out from simple delivery as long as I can because
eBay’s choice of couriers are not going to work
Evri no chance and Royal Mail does not do long boxes. and I use
parcel-force .so where does that leave me .cost of postage on eBay is
stupid and pack link insurance is a rip off. Everything tracked boy will
the money flow.
I have chosen my own couriers paid a fare price and every one happy .eBay
should butt out and leave us alone making money of are backs is shameful
and what about the smaller sellers .we can get a better deal are self .
but eBay needs to get a better courier who delivers boxes for all shapes
and sizes. Charging a fair price and telling pack link to be fair as well
Sooner or later we will have no say no choice but as its are items the
best person to manage is us

Hello ref to second class post .I have not seen that before .eBay says only
tracked postage labels are available from simple delivery .so who gets rich
eBay pack link. not us. The old saying it’s best to stay with the devil you
know then the devil you don’t. But I am not sure now. No matter what
happens we will have no choice in the matter do as or leave .quote from
eBay

I don’t understand why eBay with their “simple” you can say that again sigh “delivery” are going from choice of multiple carriers to just TWO and if you can’t do evri that means no choice …just royal mail

positively barmy

EBay is making money left right and centre .when the buyers start calling
the shots as eBay said how are we going to get a deal Evri no chance Royal
Mail are governed by sizes .and no pick up . I have just paid £8.50 for
postage and I have to wait 2days after the buyer receives there item
Before I get my money back. I use parcel-force for my larger boxes no
options now
I will continue with my own couriers and hopefully by then eBay’s changes
it back. as it’s not working. But with a deal on postage and pack link it
will never happen. Money is worth more than every seller

When you list an item, just opt out of the Simple Delivery and then it's fine.

Yes we are fine handling are listings it’s bad enough having had 4% added
to the total price before going live .a small payment would be enough to
cover buyer protection .eBay has stepped well out of line over this .not
many buyers know yet about this hidden rip off.
as these are hidden at check out .leave the listings alone
and like every one simple delivery is a rip off as well .this is a dirty
deal to suit and eBay expects us to trust Evri
They can not be trusted with a teddy bear .they will take ages to deliver
if at all . It’s like doing a deal with the devil.
The small sellers like me will pay dearly to keep the devils at bay .while
the money flows but not to us

It’s appeared for me too now when I try create new listing

i have only Royal Mail enabled, not evri (there are no other choices either)

problem is with simple delivery there doesn’t seem to be a Royal Mail 48 tracked option

it says prices will show to the buyer starting  at 3.75

tracked 48 is 3.39 (online)

unless eBay are going to be charging post office prices

?

No there are no royal Mail collections any more .which being disabled this
has been my choice for years and it was cheaper than at the post office.
and now what .
and the track if needed is via rip off pack link. The 2 couriers eBay is
making a deal with the devil is Royal Mail basic Evri which will be only
the choices given. Small private sellers are the ones we need to take care
off .for small sales they can not go postage free
And now the buyers and eBay gives them 3 choices .thats ok for things of
no value .I have been waiting for 3 items from Evri and still no sign .but
INR is still valid at the moment
EBay has set out to make us private sellers in a bad light my buyers do not
need protection against me and charging 4% of there total purchase is
absolutely out of order what about £3.50 that will pay for any protect .the
thing that makes it disgusting not many buyers know much at all as this is
added to are listings making us the bad ones.
and no shocks at check out how is that right . Every buyer should have
received eBay’s email to small private sellers telling us what is going to
happen as I am a buyer knowing what that was going to cost me made me
furious .everything I buy will cost me 4% of total
There are no words that would be strong enough on eBay’s devil deals .the
rattle of monies will be like a winning on the game machines
If they do not want us for god sake tell us .not make us pay to stay.
One big seller said us small sellers are not worth the trouble .but less
not forget it was the little people who put eBay on the road in the
beginning .now it’s chuck us under the bus .disgusting how they have forgot
but money is the fruit of evil and what eBay has done is money money and do
not care who they tried on to get it

Any item listed that exceeds £20 price should negate simple delivery at the listing stage. Evri only cover £20 I think and Royal Mail 2nd class is the same cover. From £3.75 is a rip off starting point. I hope we can continue to opt out.

Evri is probably one of the worst delivery firms in all of the UK, Royal Mail is far faster and doesn't charge for remote areas and tracking works fine for 24,48 etc they do offer services where tracking only shows when delivery is attempted.

Evri is well known for losing & damaging parcels and then finding one of a million reasons why they shouldn't pay you out. The only time I will ever use Evri is when I need to send something longer than standard Yodel allows. Yodel Direct also has a forever lasting 10% off under 1kg costs £2.42 often deliver in 2 days & rarely if ever lose/damage parcels.

The Royal Mail collection is being taken away from eBay .serious for the
disabled and country folk. so it’s basic Royal Mail only. Royal Mail first
class recorded only lets you know if it is delivered but could be floating
about .for months .and no money until it surfaces . Because In
INR being taken out the buyer wins every time and again no money for
sellers .
Yodel parcel-force etc are not the couriers anymore it’s Evri and RM .the
only way we can choose for now until no choice is if
we have postage free or take a chance if it’s delivered but the person is
dishonest no win there
otherwise eBay and the buyers choose from a choice of postage. Everything
must be tracked and if like Evri they cover £20 then it’s rip off pack link
more money.
I will hold out until clusters last stand then raise my hands

You can just bypass Simple delivery by selecting custom. I don't think they are stupid enough to force this issue. Adding buyer fees is already pretty unpopular forcing the use of simple delivery would really be dicing with the share price given their weak reporting as of late. It also appears they are taking on some responsibility regarding INR given -

Benefits of Simple Delivery

There are several benefits to using Simple Delivery, including:

  • You'll be protected if the item is lost or damaged from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network and until it's marked as delivered
  • There are no transaction fees on postage
  • Tracking is automatically uploaded to your orders on your behalf
  • You don't need to have a printer to use the labels

If they force people to use a certain delivery network and then INR's start happening its a storm waiting to happen. I have no interest in using Evri the worst provider to ever have existed which previously was only made worse by Packlink with their endless list of "we don't have to pay if we break or lose x". I do not think this gamble is going to pay off for eBay long term. Buyers will not like paying to buy and sellers won't like being pressured to use sub par services and more importantly not fit for purpose Evri.

Benefits of simple delivery they say

“No transaction fees on postage”

have to laugh

hardly a benefit seeing as there were no transaction fees before

maybe business sellers is different though?

sorry to butt in

I'm not a fan of the changes. I knew something was coming they were never going to remove seller fees without something in the pipeline. To be honest I expected that they would push people into registering as a business as they still pay fees. Frankly I would have rather split the fees buyers currently pay and not have additional rubbish like simple delivery forced onto me and my buyers.

I don't know if eBay thought shifting fees onto buyers would somehow make sellers happier about all siding with buyers regardless of context and the situation. It isn't surprising they chose Evri but it really isn't a wise decision. It would be different if Evri was hitting it out of the park and everyone chose them because they were good. I've seen quite a few bad businesses through my times restoring, fixing & cleaning/selling tools but no courier quite tops Evri. I swear to god they managed to lose (or more likely steal) a 6ft brass vase xD

As far as I'm aware business sellers pay fees, can probably choose simple delivery but not have it forced on them. It's clear eBay is pushing the no fees for sellers while leaving out the hellscape they have created in its wake.
