hello every one I have read the new postage simple delivery for small private sellers like me and I am very concerned its going to be ebay who decides what courier they think I should use, and even more concerned the buyer will choose .this is hermes evri the worst couriers I have never known, I am selling my antique dolls and send them the quickest and safe with my choosen courier .fully insured and next day delivery which I have done with my items for over 17 yrs. I charge my buyers a set amount but if my box and packing goes over I pay the extra for peace of mind. and the thought of them being sent via hermes evri scares me and I would not trust them with a teddy bear, ebay must let me choose my own courier but I am told I have no choice, antiques no matter what must be sent in a manner they deserve and the simple delivery is not . simple delivery is just that for clothes shoes and not breakable .not for antiques and items of great value, I have had my dolls for over 50 years and simple delivery is not going to happen, I do not want to leave ebay but I will take my antiques some where else, so many great sellers have gone, but ebay does not take the time to ask why. ebay must look after the private sellers like me but I doubt it .the big boys are more important,

If we opt out of one and don't allow both they are going to charge the buyer more for the one which we use. I did see the price differences but forgot to make a note and can't think where now.

Since yesterday if I re-list an item or amend an active one I have simple delivery over riding my custom postage settings. My large letter price is £1.90, theirs is £2.74. My parcel price is £3.25, theirs is £3.74. I am able to select my postage settings from a drop down list but I cannot amend the prices on these when Royal Mail prices change soon. There is no reassurance shown that items above £25 are covered by their simple delivery.

Does anyone else find it as crazy as I do that we cant get this information from ebay? Why do i have to go to a forum and look for randomers using trial and error to tell us how it works. Actual insanity.

Such a cop out answer because it implies that ebay arent attempting to force us down the path of using their simple delivery and having them take care of it all. They advertise the simple delivery as recommended and as if you dont have to do anything, they will take full care of it. Thats supposed to be the point isnt it? Yet they dont, they just guess what youre sending and send the wrong postage label constantly, its broken and unuseable.
Yes you need to adjust the weights and dimensions yourself. Which completely defeats the purpose of it being "simple" delivery because you have to change it all manually anyway because ebay just takes a stab in the dark. Ebay should know the dimensions already of all popular items. Yet they dont.
It would be like somebody advertising they can fix your car, telling you to trust them and leave it fully in their hands. Then when you go to pick it up its been written off and theyve let it roll down a hill into the ocean stating you should have been there to steer it away. Jokers.

I have deselected Evri under the Simple Delivery settings just leaving Royal Mail as the delivery service. So far it seems to be working. I did trial sending by Evri about a year ago and 30% of deliveries were lost or delivered to another address. It's impossible to contact Evri customer services and they seem to work on the basis that customers will just give up. Do ebay not realise that Evri have publicly admitted they lose 8 million parcels a year? I have an excellent Evri courier but he admitted that Evri couriers are all self employed and most of the missing parcels are stolen by couriers. They receive no training and there are no due diligence checks on the couriers. They even employ contractors during busy periods who get paid per round whether they delivery the parcels or not , unlike the couriers who get paid per parcel drop. The couriers get wise to the high value parcels from retailers and these are often targeted. Royal Mail staff are fully trained and employed by RM, except Christmas period. Unfortunately Royal Mail have yet to realise that if they matched Evri's pricing they would take a big chunk of their business. Major retailers use Evri because of their discounted prices. It's the final leg of the journey that lets them down. Some strange decisions being made by ebay management lately. What made ebay unique and great was that private sellers/buyers complimented the business sellers. Private sellers would often buy from ebay business sellers rather than Amazon. Without the mixture Ebay will just become another Amazon and ebay does not stand a chance against the giant Amazon. In summary I shall continue to sell and buy on ebay using Royal Mail. If I'm forced to use Evri to buy or sell I will close my account. For all Amazons faults they operate a no quibble customer service policy for buyers and can't fault them at all.

Given the high value of your items I feel you should talk to ebay customer services who may be able to offer you a suitable fix. I agree that under no circumastances should you let Evri anywhere near your valuable items. There are a few good customer service agents but also some less knowledgable ones. May I suggest you contact them during UK office hours as that's the best chance of getting a UK agent. In my experience out of office hours customer service agents are offshored and have little or basic knowledge.
Good luck
