simple delivery

hello every one I have read the new postage simple delivery  for small private sellers like me and I am very concerned its going to be ebay who decides what courier they think I should use, and even more concerned the buyer will choose .this is hermes evri the worst couriers I have never known, I am selling my antique dolls and send them the quickest and safe with my choosen courier .fully insured and next day delivery which I have done with my items for over 17 yrs. I charge my buyers a set amount but if my box and packing goes over I pay the extra for peace of mind. and the thought of them being sent via hermes evri scares me and I would not trust them with a teddy bear, ebay must let me choose my own courier but I am told I have no choice, antiques no matter what must be sent in a manner they deserve and the simple delivery is not . simple delivery is just that for clothes shoes and not breakable .not for antiques and items of great value, I have had my dolls for over 50 years and simple delivery is not going to happen, I do not want to leave ebay but I will take my antiques some where else, so many great sellers have gone, but ebay does not take the time to ask why. ebay must look after the private sellers like me but I doubt it .the big boys are more important,

Re: simple delivery

If we opt out of one and don't allow both they are going to charge the buyer more for the one which we use. I did see the price differences but forgot to make a note and can't think where now.

Re: simple delivery

Since yesterday if I re-list an item or amend an active one I have simple delivery over riding my custom postage settings. My large letter price is £1.90, theirs is £2.74. My parcel price is £3.25, theirs is £3.74. I am able to select my postage settings from a drop down list but I cannot amend the prices on these when Royal Mail prices change soon. There is no reassurance shown that items above £25 are covered by their simple delivery.

Re: simple delivery

Does anyone else find it as crazy as I do that we cant get this information from ebay? Why do i have to go to a forum and look for randomers using trial and error to tell us how it works. Actual insanity.

Re: simple delivery

Such a cop out answer because it implies that ebay arent attempting to force us down the path of using their simple delivery and having them take care of it all. They advertise the simple delivery as recommended and as if you dont have to do anything, they will take full care of it. Thats supposed to be the point isnt it? Yet they dont, they just guess what youre sending and send the wrong postage label constantly, its broken and unuseable.

Yes you need to adjust the weights and dimensions yourself. Which completely defeats the purpose of it being "simple" delivery because you have to change it all manually anyway because ebay just takes a stab in the dark. Ebay should know the dimensions already of all popular items. Yet they dont.

It would be like somebody advertising they can fix your car, telling you to trust them and leave it fully in their hands. Then when you go to pick it up its been written off and theyve let it roll down a hill into the ocean stating you should have been there to steer it away. Jokers.

Re: simple delivery

There is something weird going on with pricing as for a £3.25 Royal Mail 2nd class small parcel I have had it come up with buyer pays £3.71 but with a £5.15 Royal Mail tracked it’s come up with buyer pays £3.76?!

Re: simple delivery

I have deselected Evri under the Simple Delivery settings just leaving Royal Mail as the delivery service. So far it seems to be working.  I did trial sending by Evri about a year ago and 30% of deliveries were lost or delivered to another address. It's impossible to contact Evri customer services and they seem to work on the basis that customers will just give up. Do ebay not realise that Evri have publicly admitted they lose 8 million parcels a year? I have an excellent Evri courier but he admitted that Evri couriers are all self employed and most of the missing parcels are stolen by couriers. They receive no training and there are no due diligence checks on the couriers. They even employ contractors during busy periods who get paid per round whether they delivery the parcels or not , unlike the couriers who get paid per parcel drop. The couriers get wise to the high value parcels from retailers and these are often targeted. Royal Mail staff are fully trained and employed by RM, except Christmas period. Unfortunately Royal Mail have yet to realise that if they matched Evri's pricing they would take a big chunk of their business. Major retailers use Evri because of their discounted prices. It's the final leg of the journey that lets them down. Some strange decisions being made by ebay management lately. What made ebay unique and great was that private sellers/buyers complimented the business sellers. Private sellers would often buy from ebay business sellers rather than Amazon. Without the mixture Ebay will just become another Amazon and ebay does not stand a chance against the giant Amazon. In summary I shall continue to sell and buy on ebay using Royal Mail. If I'm forced to use Evri to buy or sell I will close my account. For all Amazons faults they operate a no quibble customer service policy for buyers and can't fault them at all.

Re: simple delivery

Yes I am also having problems it seems the buyer / eBay gives 3 choices
all the time and at a higher price than normal .and I am even more
frightened that they only give a £20 top insurance that’s Evri. and my
collectables need anything from £30 depending what I am sending. My doll is
£750 and then pack link kick in ripping me off . I can not send my lovely
items without my usual next day delivery with insurance is £22 which my
buyers are happy with. I have to pack tight as there is no insurance for
breakages only lost .and for god’s sake Evri deliver broke chuck over the
wall or lost .we will not be given are monies till 48 hrs after arrival
This absolutely stinks every bit of it and not forget the buyers pay 4% in
case I am a seller from hell .yesterday as a buyer eBay charged me £17
buyer protection with them just a load of ——-

I have used my chosen couriers since 2007 and sizes bigger than RM now
where do I stand are eBay going to guarantee my doll not in a million years
for £20 .everything must be tracked and if harm comes to her are eBay going
to give me my money as the buyer will receive there’s

Re: simple delivery

Given the high value of your items I feel you should talk to ebay customer services who may be able to offer you a suitable fix. I agree that under no circumastances should you let Evri anywhere near your valuable items. There are a few good customer service agents but also some less knowledgable ones. May I suggest you contact them during UK office hours as that's the best chance of getting a UK agent. In my experience out of office hours customer service agents are offshored and have little or basic knowledge.

Good luck

Re: simple delivery

Thank you I had a few chats when I knew this was coming and some I had good
ones and some very cocky who said that If I did not except there SD as the
buyer will choose my label and it could be Evri if the buyers choose that
one. I should stop selling if this was the case .I reported him for that.
20 yrs of being a member and I am treated like that
The ones I feel sorry are my buyers and my friends know I always pay half
there postage. Or postage free
I have always treated my buyers with respect and I have been swimming in
shark infested waters as a buyer many times but once bitten stay away .It
would be nice if eBay told us the truth they are making it so hard for us
small private sellers and are buyers are being charged money to buy from us
.

Re: simple delivery

I have only ever used RM Tracked 48 for my sales, many of which are fragile. Yes, I have had some breakages and always have claimed successfully with RM. They are cumbersome to claim with and want huge amounts of evidence but if selling an item that ultimately does not arrive in one piece and you have a disappointed customer you can claim recompense.

..." I really don't like the idea of the buyer rather than me choosing the postage option..." As a buyer I agree with the above, as long as it it clearly stated (and binding,) by the seller,... as to who the delivery courier will be.

Re: simple delivery

I have just had a nightmare with Evri bought a new V12 vacuum out for
delivery time slot and then not delivered then smashed damage past
salvaging sent back to seller Wednesday

Then they said they are getting my item for delivery for me . Thursday
Friday then they said they could not damaged sent back to seller. Now I
have to deal with the seller .
Simple delivery did not cover his item he got £25 Evri so called insurance
cover so much for saying SD no matter what you will be refunded

Evri is the worst courier walking no contact no email and now eBay are on
there band wagon making a deal with the devil .I and the seller who was
kept in the dark was treated in a manner by these 2 no courier I use would
ever do this .
No body in there right mind will choose Evri I am one

Re: simple delivery

I am a seller and a buyer who hates Evri with a vengeance .as a seller I
have never heard a courier hated as much as them.a
I bought a new vacuum this week and I could not change from SD to another
he used SD .the first time for delivery was Wednesday out for delivery time
slotted and the smashed past delivery so sent back to seller
Thursday they were getting it ready again for delivery and then you guest
it Friday smashed no delivery sent back to seller so need to sort it with
them.
EBay did not help him at all and as for SD covering all this is not the
case he was given £25 not the full value that it was.
No body should be treated like this and no seller should be kept in the dark
And no buyer should have to hope your items are coming in a safe way .eBay
has done a deal with the devil and is just as bad with there treatment they
gave my seller and .until this is back with him I will not get refunded my
money .

Re: simple delivery

As far as I can get over the shock of the sudden change the following seems to apply?

1)Cannot revise a current active listing to opt out simple Delivery?Maybe necessary to cancel listing then re list when opt out MAY be available

2)Real hassle having to choose Seller Pays Buyer Pays box EVERY new listing

3)Printing a label more expense hassle will have to take USB pen to local library

pay 35p per sheet print out a PDF copy of the label (you only get one chance to download it)take said label to the counter with the packed parcel and then see what happens.Im just not a smartphone swiper even if i had oneDodgy cnvenience stores where all the packets are piled up near the door in open cages and all over floor a temptation for shoplifters and pirates

4)So looks like use of Royal Mail Stamps is now not possible?Assuming one opts for Simple Delivery?I havent listed since this was imposed so Im not sure if you CAN opt out with a new listing. The only listings I currently have are before Simple Delivery

Re: simple delivery

Well, I have just checked on an old 3 year old listing and it has the option for SD but it is still on the old RM option. I can change it to SD if I wanted (Do I really look that stupid? Answers on a postcard).
All new listings give you the option to opt out of it (very sensible) but you have to do this on every new listing.
I include a £4.00 postage charge INSIDE my asking price so that I can offer Free Postage to buyers. So much easier.

Re: simple delivery

Me Too I like to offer Customers postage all in service and prices are NOT inflated to cover that (much). All packing tape boxes etc are free from supermarket. So I just tried listing a fresh item .System kept bouncing me back red bar at top Delivery Needed.Eventually got the hang of the somewhat convoluted opt out .This time didnt get the Seller /Buyer pays

connudrum.Opted for Custom etc etc feel like Im really a nuisance NOT opting for the quick and easy 'Simple'Delivery but perservered and EVENTUALLY got it on my terms,ie Royal Mail Parcel Tracked after lots of hoops. Am I right in thinking RM Tracking is now compulsory ie Signed For- with every parcel sent?At least if you dont enter tracking the system wont accept youve sent proof of sending and wont release the funds ever?

Not just talking compo talking GETTING PAID!

With that odd one today my first Simple Delivery sprung on me States 'Despatched'

with Evri.I havent even wrapped it or printed the label!

Option to mark 'unmark as despatched'of old not an option.

However Evri Tracking states Waiting for Buyer to Post for our receipt.

Go figure. Some terminology changed needed there.

So it looks like its a case of more careful option reading a lot more key clicking

and more work with every listing
