Hello, I am getting this error message when trying to generate a label for a simple delivery sale: "Something went wrong and we were not able to generate the label."
I spoke with chat and they just asked me to try different devices and browsers. Nothing's working, not incognito, not firefox, edge, chrome, the app, mobile, nothing. I called CS as well and they blame Royal Mail but I doubt it.
Any suggestions? I saw any earlier post recommend I try to change the buyer's postal code, but that is grayed out and I cannot edit that part.
Incredibly frustrating

Can you take the QR code to a post office and print it there?
Or, if Evri, the 6 character code to an Evri point with a label printing machine?

The thing is, I can't even generate the QR code. Neither the label or QR code are able to generate when I try to. I've disabled Evri as it's mostly useless for posting where I live, but without the ability to even get the label/QR, it sadly wouldn't help in this instance.

Have you asked support to provide you with a new label?

Hopefully someone else will have some ideas or it'll work tomorrow. Otherwise, if it was me, I would try CS again, and failing that cancel and relist (explaining to the buyer) - and if they bought it again hopefully it works.
Have you been able to generate RM labels/QR codes previously, or is this your first try?

I asked them if they could do it for me and they just sent me a link to the "get label" page, not very helpful I'm afraid.

I've been able to do so before without issue. I've asked the buyer to cancel and re-buy a different listing without simple delivery, hopefully they'll be fine with that.
Thanks for the input, being forced into simple delivery really is infuriating. I've been selling on ebay's US site since 2010 and the UK site and functionality is terrible in comparison I have to admit

Update on this: nothing has helped so far. And I made another sale with a listing I thought I had disabled simple delivery for and now I can't generate a label for that either!
This is infuriating, simple delivery is anything but!

I think the most efficient "solution" is to keep checking your items are not on SD.
If you want a "proper" solution or you want to list items that can only be sent SD, you might want to reply to the ebay person on this thread: https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Postage/Something-went-wrong-and-we-were-not-able-to-generate-the-la... (she is away for a few days). The date of that thread suggests the root cause may not be SD (but in your case is only affecting SD items.) Indeed, there are reports of the exact error message in ebay US from 4 years ago. The responses there were to try keep refreshing the page; and also there was something specific/unusual about the address (e.g. a US military address).

Wonder if a add blocker or your anti virus updating might be causing it. Have you tried it using a different browser

Thank you, I've tried changing my address to see if that might help but it's just fully bugged, nothing seems to be working at all. CS has said they will manually generate it for me but that it needs to be escalated first, in the meantime the shipping deadline is sailing past... But thank you, I've replied to that thread in the hopes of adding to the chorus.

Yes I've tried all browsers, also tried on my phone browser + app, all without ad blockers, it's not a device issue

It’s definitely a post office issue
for some reason all 48hr tracked numbers have been changed to start YA instead of TA
thus must be linked to the issue. If you make a request for a refund then it will be made to the buyer ( assuming it’s not free delivery) so does this mean we have to go and ask the buyer to send us the delivery amount again and if so how? EBay won’t slow us to use an email address to get it paid to my PayPal account 😡

The YA issue started (late 1st or) 2nd August, the comments above yours are from June.
