I wish Sellers give Buyer delivery options Free delivery is not always the best
Royal Mail delivery, I live alone Saturday 16/11/2024 waited all day for delivery until 8pm
Missed delivery 8.19 pm No answer
In future I am going to ask next day .if not possible -move on. Sitting around all day early morning until late at night for up 3 days to save a small sum of money IS MADNESS.

You surely have the option to request of the seller BEFORE purchasing if they would mind sending your order tracked, offering to pay for the upgrade?
With Royal Mail as the courier you will reduce your waiting time to a 4 hour period on a precise day, and most tracked services are similar whatever the courier.

The other postage options with Tracking or another Courier may have a cost that the Buyer will have to pay.
It is the Buyers choice.
If Seller does not offer the postage option the Buyer would like, contact the Seller before purchase or buy from another Seller that offers the postage delivery you want.

Free Delivery only means it is without cost to the buyer - The service is shown in the postal details ie. Royal Mail 2nd class or Tracked 48 etc or Evri or Yodal etc.
The seller pays for this and chooses the service.
Some sellers do offer the buyers choice - just choose the drop down box on the postal details.
If you wish for a different service - you can ask the seller before purchase.
Next day delivery is expensive, especially Royal Mail and usually only via Special Delivery, as guaranteed , i.e. before 1pm. I do not think any seller would include this as a Free service unless the item justifies this. ie. Value of item & for insurance purposes. etc.
Once a seller posts an item, it is out of their control - delivery is on the Postal Services, no matter what particular service is used or offered, free or not.
