Hi All,
Private seller here who's struggling with ebay's Simple Delivery ('Simple' as in you simply MUST use it).
For instance, the other day I sold an item and the buyer asked to be upgraded to next day delivery (he was happy to pay for it).
But, unless I'm being thicker than usual, you can't do it. I had to buy another lot of postage, and ebay 'simply' keeps the money for their Simple Delivery - even though I didn't use it.
Anyone got any advice/thoughts on Simple Delivery....especially if I've misunderstood it.
Thanks.

The Buyer can choose Standard or Express delivery when they buy. Express is Royal Mail Tracked 24 which aims to deliver next day but doesn't guarantee it.
You can get refunded for your un-used Simple Delivery label. Under Selling in the left-hand column of your Summary page click Postage Labels, find the item and click More Actions to the right of it.

Most items have a Standard or Express option but for example, the below only offers me Standard.

That’s an evri only price
maybe evri don’t do express
But I think they do
maybe it’s too expensive for eBay?
dont know
give up

I thought it was the buyer that got refunded if a simple delivery label was'nt used ?.
Confused 🙃

Seems unfair a seller has to apply for one but a buyer doesn’t

Yes, who knows. I was just trying to say to the OP, that the buyer should choose from whatever options are given - although sometimes there is only one postage [to their address] option. The seller should then just use the label given, [unless the item is prohibited etc.]

That’s just pathetic if true
an unused label is an unused label
no one has delivered the service for it
it hasn’t cost anyone anything (tbh they may try and say it has)
therefore no one has a right to keep the money from it
so why make it hard

Thanks, I was aware of that. My issue is when a buyer wants something quicker. As we all know, most things have a 'going rate/ceiling price', so I only allow for cheapest postage when listing- so my items stand a chance of selling. Thx for your reply.

Thanks for your interest and reply, folks. Edwardian-dreams, I 100% agree with you: how can we be charged for a label that is NOT used?
Just to let you know the outcome, folks.....I asked for a call back from ebay, and duly had my moan. Whilst very polite, the ebay staffer didn't see the problem. He kept saying 'you have the choice of postage options when you list'. I said as a default, I list things with the cheapest postage option (so as not to price myself out of the market etc).
I asked wasn't it crazy that sellers can't meet the needs of buyers who need items quicker - without paying twice for postage. It didn't compute with him at all (are they A.I. now??). However, I saw yesterday that I was refunded for the ebay label I didn't use. Very nice of him, but not the long-term solution.
I do think it's a problem for ebay (and sellers) that postage can't be amended. I was perfectly happy to pay extra for quicker delivery, but for it not to be possible is unacceptable.
Thanks again to everyone who took the time to reply here.
