Help! I want to sell an umbrella but when reading the options on "SimpleDelivery" the only option because of the length appears to be DHL at over £12! It should'nt cost more than around £5! What can I do?

eBay recently made £20 and under items available for Custom Postage. To get this to load when listing your umbrella choose the correct price, make sure Simple Delivery is selected for 'Large Letter', then CP option should load and you can choose any size/weight and courier that you like.

I have this very same problem with an item 80cm long & under 2kilo.

RM do not accept small parcels over 45cm. However if it is a rolled or cylinder shape the length plus twice the diameter must not exceed 104cm. This could be a solution for you with your umbrella but I'm not so sure I can achieve this with my embroidery stand 🙂

Stylewise's suggestion of if under £20 you can select custom postage does not apply to all categories as far as I can see - it appears to be just small items like coins, trading card, postcards if I'm reading it correctly.

Surely someone has a fail safe solution?

Thank you for trying to help, unfortunately this particular umbrella is over that max diameter, we did look at that. This situation is very frustrating and discouraging me from selling on eBay!

Thank you for trying to help but the custom option doesn't appear,. I even tried reducing the sell price to see if that made a difference but it doesn't. I need more choice than is being allowed. My umbrella would be covered by Evri's standard parcel. But that isn't given as an option.

Unfortunately as soon as you go back in & reduce the price, I saved it first as a draft, it defaults back to simple delivery & wants to charge about £13 for postage for an item that Evri would charge around £3.50.

Its ridiculous & frustrating but thanks for attempting to help!!

Just another thought about the longer parcels.

Mine is only 80cms & under 2k so fits nicely into Evri parcel length limit of 120cms

I guess I could opt to only ship all my listings with Evri for the duration of trying to sell the embroidery stand & go back to offering Royal Mail once (hopefully!) its sold .....

I then choose small parcel - ignoring eBays length limit knowing all is okay with Evri to accept it?

Not knowing full dimensions of your umbrella John not sure if this works for you? I was thinking of a hand held rain umbrella but maybe yours is a garden umbrella!

Do not alter the over-weight and over-size values that you have entered - they have no relevance once you have chosen your courier that will take your size. You must follow exactly otherwise the price will revert.
