Just to say that I only used once, so far so good.
However, some items I sell are more than £200, and I don't I feel comfortable using just Royal Mail 24 or 28.
After double checking with eBay's CS, I was told that:
*Royal Mail Special Delivery isn't provided.
*if a parcel is lost or damaged, the courier will cover it all if via Simply Delivery.
It sounds too good to be truth, coz in that case, I don't need to use Special Delivery and there's no need to worry for some worse case scenarios. However, I still have doubts because I asked 2 CS persons to send me the link of T&C. They promised and yet didn't. I found it a bit tricky, because even RM Special Delivery only covers £2000 or £2500 at maxium. Some luxury items, say a Rolex or Hermes would pass the limit easily.
Does anyone know where I can find this T&C?
Thanks.

@shanm_9847 you are exempt from simple delivery for items over 750£
you can use special delivery with RM

more ebay lies upon lies. no courier in there right mind is going to offer full coverage unless paid for. and it meets there requirements. i have seen the list and according to them you cant send anything. so why are they charging customers for protection when the full well know they cant protect items.

I too am uncomfortable sending an item someone has paid £200- £1000 on Royal Mail 48 . Perhaps I could tell the buyer i'm sending a dummy package for £2.99 to satisfy ebays tracking, after I have sent the item Royal Mail guaranteed 1pm delivery.

As part of Simple Delivery eBay provides cover against loss or damage in transit for items up to £750. Items greater than £750 are not eligible for Simple Delivery, so you will still be able to send those using custom postage.

Hi,
eBay needs to clarify its Simple Delivery statement - Get full coverage for your items - with regard to its term and condition small print that also requires adherence to the couriers’ policies. For example Evri has a policy/term and condition (T&C) of no compensation for lost or damaged items in a very extensive Non-Compensation Items list. The eBay Simple Delivery statement of Get full coverage for your items is clearly contradicted by relevant policy/T&C small print and therefore without this clarification it must be view as grossly misleading.

I sold an item on Ebay and was forced to use SD. The item was carefully checked prior to dispatch but arrived damaged. Ebay were asked to help settle mattters as they stated that SD assumed liability for damage in transit. This turned out to be BS, they just issued a return label, refunded the buyer and debited my account - BE WARNED. I wont be doing this again - next time I sell something the buyer will have to collect it. Might as well use facebook MP..........

Confirmed what I thought, thank you

What reason did the buyer select when they opened the return request?
They should have selected 'Item arrived damaged'. If instead they selected 'Item doesn't match description or photos' or one of the other reasons then it would have been treated as a normal 'Item not as described' case.
All you can do now is try to appeal the decision making it clear that the item was damaged in transit.

Yeah - right ! I can't believe I'm alone in this - I guess there will be a class action somewhere down the line for all those sellers who get their account charged contrary to the stated terms.

There is no limit for compensation for loss or damage when using Simple Delivery, up to the selling price of your item.
All the T&C are here

That's true, the limiting feature is that items over £750 can't be sent by Simple Delivery.

Yep, Items over £750 are not eligible, so you would have to make other arrangements for those.
What a lot of people are confused by is the levels of compensation not aligning with the usual RM/Evri limits. Simple Delivery limits are different because eBay are acting as the de facto insurer for the service, not RM or Evri.

If , as a seller your item is damaged in transit what ebay actually does is simply issue a return label and debit your account plus postage and refund the buyer - this happened to me when I asked Ebay to sort it out. Needless to say I won't be using Ebay for selling in future.

This is very disappointing to hear.
I am choosing to use Royal Mail tracked postage with ebay simple delivery.
Royal Mail have often been very good about compensating for lost or damaged parcels.
I wonder what would happen in these circumstances, if you just make a claim direct to Royal mail as there should be a tracking number. Would they not pay out in the normal way and that would then compensate the seller for the loss through ebay?

No, because the seller has no contract with Royal Mail. It is being sent on eBay's Royal Mail business account so eBay is the deemed sender.

Something clearly went wrong in your case. There have been other posters who have stated that the buyer was automatically refunded by eBay when reporting that the item 'Arrived damaged'.

Well that, on its own, makes it completely unusable IMO. If you can't get compensation for lost or damaged goods why use the ebay delivery system at all?

So long as the there's no delivery confirmation OR the buyer has selected 'Arrived damaged' as the reason for opening a return, eBay should compensate the buyer.
If that doesn't happen, then you need to contact eBay CS.

That's not true.....you can send a "Brick" and many other Items with Evri
But you can only claim Compensation for a "Brick" as Evri doesn't allow you to claim Compensation for anything else if damaged or lost....!

Go to the Evri website, it tells you everything that they don't pay compensation for, and the list virtually covers most things being sold on eBay.... absolutely ridiculous....even Vinyl Records are on the list....!
