Just taken some parcels to the Post Office, posted with simple delivery and they wouldn’t scan. Post Office staff got the message “2D barcode not recognised, not valid for tracked 48”
Has anyone else had this? Thanks

I've had the same experience this morning. I spoke with eBay Support on the phone and was eventually advised to create another label outside of eBay. I bought a label from the Royal Mail website, updated the order's tracking number to that, and requested a refund for my Simple Delivery label at https://www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller.

Thanks for the info, but won’t it be the buyer who will receive the postage refund as they bought the label not me.

Yes, if you have made the buyer pay for postage instead of offering free postage, you're probably in a pickle. Would have to confirm with support.

I am in a pickle! lol

Yep, others are having the same issue today, many reports of this coming through, you are not alone.
Seems for the time being, the answer is to either buy your own postage label through Royal Mail / Post Office, or try again later for an SD label.
Then, for the unused label:

Yes I just had the exact same issue happened to me when I took my latest batch of orders to the post office 10 minutes ago

Frustrating. I have swapped my postage preference to Evri for now.
Not sure how it can be resolved as the tracking code is given as YA**** etc instead of the usual TQ*** so will they issue new labels for us ? Or will we have to go outside of simple delivery and use royal mail normal tracked 48 etc and post it that way and request refunds on unused labels ? Though outside of simple delivery means the payments / received notice to ebay will be longer ???? It is a bit of a mess !

I’ve just been on eBay chat and they have confirmed that it is a Royal Mail glitch, and it should be resolved in 24 hours.

Funny how Ebay support can give reassurances about another company's 'glitch' being fixed. 🙄

I have the same issue with a code starting 'YA'.
I called Royal Mail customer service who said they've had several calls today about this. They also said the issue is affecting some labels bought directly from Royal Mail Online, not just third parties like eBay.
I sold an item with the buyer paying for simple delivery. Obviously, eBay kept the postage fee paid by the buyer to cover the cost of the label.
If I buy a new postage label direct from a courier, how do I get a refund from eBay to cover the cost of the new label?

hi this is what i am thinking too,what a load of hassle this is.i might until tomorrow and see if ebay post something online.

I just generated a new tracked 48 label on the RM website and it also started with YA so I immediately requested another refund and went with EVRI

Just seen this posted online “cant send tracked parcels with new YA tracking codes. the old TQ one has ran its maximum numbers 99999999 and the new one has kicked in but wont let any drop off points scan it in”

I have been told by eBay customer services on a phone chat:
- eBay hopes the issue will be fixed today;
- all affected sellers will be emailed once the labels can start to be accepted at Post Offices;
- sellers' performance metrics will not be adversely impacted by this issue.

thank you ... I will now have to e-mail my customers that they might not have to cancel their orders. This is a mess from Royal Mail

hi i also chatted on the phone to an ebay agent,he told me that the postage labels are still valid and are ok and royal mail are to blame.He told me to wait until monday and hopefully everything should be ok.so i am not sure what to believe to be honest.

I've also been told to try again on Monday by a local Post Office ~ apparently some people's parcels went and others didn't!
