Sold an item to an international buyer, Went into the 'Purchase Postage' to print the shipping via the site, DPD or UPS basic shipping is all thats available, No timescale or anything regarding delivery...
Did a chat to find out what was wrong, 1st guy didn't have a grasp of the english language, Team leader told me some BS about Royal Mail not working with ebay over prepaid international labels.
The eBay site's help page for international shipping contradicts this...
This looks like a forced option to use these companies, Royal Mail international was available before Xmas.
I don't want to be cutting & pasting into the Royal Mail site from eBay, I then need to harrass the buyer for an email to use Royal Mail so they can update them on the journey.
Royal Mail offer 3-5 days delivery, UPS & DPD offer no timescale
Remember no funds until after the item has been delivered...Some idiot has really messed up the international sales possibility, i will be refunding the buyer & not offering international sales any longer.
Any of the eBay staff trolling about willing to offer an explanation??

Using ebay postage is still not compulsory - yet. If you opt out of Simple Delivery during the listing process you can add what postage you want to your listings. Then buy your own postage at your post office and add the tracking number to your ebay account manually. Some of us have been doing that all along.

Not my point, I have been using the site since the late 90s, I know the shipping system UK & worldwide inside out. My point is the hassle of now having to cut & paste all the info & fill in the customs declaration form on the Royal Mail site, Finding the HS tariff number for the item, The order number (not item number) of the sale to link up with the pre paid VAT eBay have taken from the buyer so they don't have to pay the duties twice....yadda yadda yadda
Things that used to be all automatically generated via the ebay postage system is now a ball buster to be copying & pasting especially as you don't have access to simply copy the address, You have to use the copy to clipboard button on the Order Details page, Even if you know the IOSS number you can't enter it into Royal Mails system, You have to go the long winded route & have the common sense to use the order number in this Order Details page...Don't know who's to blame as it could have been Royal Mail wanting all the customer data to sell on, Whatever & whoever is to blame it's messed the flow of shipping simply. I won't use DPD or UPS, I will only use Royal Mail as it's a Rolls Royce service compared to these companies.
As i posted above, Ebay say you have all these options but in reality you don't ANYMORE, They haven't updated the help section to match whats offered in reality. Why just pull the rug from under our feet, Could have done an anouncement/email 'Royal Mail no longer an option for International Sales' they take their time to spam you at every opportunity why not inform? Thats my point
Why say one thing but do another, Not like we can get away with that in listings

Are you selecting the default small parcel size (Shoe box)? The dimensions total (W+H+L) for the "shoe box" size is larger than 90cm- which is the max total for a Royal Mail small parcel. You will need to enter package size and weight manually to see Royal Mail options

Just buy straight from the Royal Mail site as I do I never have used eBay’s postal labels for years and I quite happily send to the USA via tracked or tracked signed for

@motown_mum I’m with @wyntersemporium on this - Royal Mail C&D account every time.
Imports details and prints the customs labels correct size.
Nothing simple about eBay’s postage process.

Not sure that I understand why a simply copy/paste of address details and filling in the online customs form is such a "hassle"?

You nailed it and it was like no-one else listened...I chose shoe box even though its a jacket packet and could only choose UPS.
I'll enter parcel size manually next-time.
Thank you.

Hi
You can actually create an account on the Royal Mail site and link your eBay account. Then all your sales will automatically appear when you login and you just click on it like eBay. This is my fall back when eBay is playing up. It's called "Click & Drop" https://business.parcel.royalmail.com/
