Royal Mail and Ebay

Hi,

I seem to be having a situation here with Ebay and Royal Mail. This is what happens:

Someone buys something, I go to the postage options and click on "Collect Parcel" and get a pop up thing saying Royal Mail will collect on such a day. Happy with that, they say they will bring label and click on the link to generate the label. That all works fine. I get two emails, one from Ebay saying here is your label, and one from Royal Mail saying "Your Royal Mail Collection - Confirmation"

The next day the postman comes but tells me that on his system it is telling him the parcel is at a different address and not my address. Each time I book a collection it's a different address - all local to me. I have checked my address on the email I get from Royal Mail and it's my address each time. I have checked my address in Ebay and it's correct.

Postman knows that if there's a rogue label then it's me, so will come and collect anyway. But just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Re: Royal Mail and Ebay

Check all your addresses on here:

https://accountsettings.ebay.co.uk/uas/addresses

If one does need updating I'm not sure if that will work for existing listings.

Hi,

Yeah I've been on there and made sure that all of my addresses are correct.

Re: Royal Mail and Ebay

Hi ero.vrko1, thanks for your post.

If you confirm the item number for the transaction this happened with, I can take a look to see what's happening there.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Royal Mail and Ebay

Hi ero.vrko1, thanks for your reply.

I've just checked for you, and all the addresses you have on file are correct, and I see no reason for a different address to come up from Royal Mail's end. By any chance did they mention the address they were seeing? And was it an address near you, or an old address you had? Please if you know the other address, do not confirm it over here, but do let me know as it could've been an honest mistake, otherwise we will have to report it to Royal Mail to see what can be done to get that resolved.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Royal Mail and Ebay

Hi Marco,

This has happened on more than 3 occasions, not actually sure of precisely how many. Every time it happens a different address is on the Royal Mail system, all of them local to me. The label which the postman brings has my correct address as the return address, so they know having looked at the label to collect from me but on their system (including the handheld device) they use has a different address.

I don't know the actual addresses that have come up on their system, but they are all local. I have lived at the same address for over 20 years and have no prior addresses in this area.

I spoke to our local postman who collects from me and he raised this issue with his manager and they said that they hadn't heard of this happening to anyone else.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Re: Royal Mail and Ebay

Thanks for your reply, ero.vrko1.

I'll report this, but please note that since you wouldn't know the address, and you haven't had a different address in a while or never, this is most likely from the carrier's website, not ours, and in that case we might not be able to do much, but we will report it to then anyway.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Royal Mail and Ebay

Thanks Marco,

When I spoke with the postman he was very sure that it wasn't their system at fault. Maybe a glitch because it didn't happen with every parcel that I set up for collection through Ebay.
