Royal Mail Temporary suspension of services to USA

PSA straight from the Post Office counter. EVRI and DPD to the States purchased through the Post Office never stopped service to the States. And as of today, they are not collecting tariffs at time of posting.

Royal Mail service is back on, they are collecting tariffs at the time of posting plus a £1.50 administration charge.

Interesting - if EVRI and DPD items are not having tariffs collected at this end then I can see US Customs either returning them to sender or holding them pending payment of fees by the recipient. I cannot see them waiving fees for EVRI and DPD!

I think the reason why postal operators ended acceptance of US-bound packages around 22-23 august was the possibility of USA collecting tariffs on the 29th even on items mailed earlier than that and still in transit. IMHO it was a smart move on their part. Just imagine if US customs decided to not only turn back, but destroy all packages where the paperwork isn't up to the new requirements.  I wouldn't put it past seeing a new executive order written that orders that very thing.

style_wise wrote his message here on the 28th, so maybe EVRI and DPD  determined that tariffs will not be applied if the package was in transit prior to the 29th. I suppose it's their interpretation of the US tariff "start date" given as the 29th of august.

I've never claimed myself to be a "stable genius" so it's really just my attempt at  guessing. Don't forget to Make Ebay Great Again. Cheers
