Postage rates

I sell fabric by the metre. Postage on one metre is VERY different to postage on many metres, both in weight AND package size, but with Simple Postage I cannot list different rates? and I cannot increase the postage once the customer has paid.  It takes a lot of fabric to get close to the 10Kg they mention but it would be near to the 16cm x 35cm x 45cm dimensions quoted. With the old system one could add on £? extra for each extra metre ordered. Now One can't.  I dont want to get slapped with extra fines. Help!

Well you could always correctly register as a business seller.

Simply delivery would no longer be a problem.

With respect, sallyh1900, if you are selling brand new fabric by the metre then you should not be doing so on a Private account.

Your question regarding how to charge buyers additional postage depending on how many metres they purchase is therefore moot.

Yes, and Business Sellers can still do this.

Otherwise if you want to keep selling bulk fabric on your Private Seller account you could either

- set the postage at the maximum weight

- or make a separate listing for each length of fabric.

I am retiring so getting rid of last amounts of my workshop fabrics, using my personal account, as the amounts are few now. If I went through my business I'd have to charge higher and then the costs become prohibitive.

Cannot list each length as they don't exist until cut! Fabric is fabric, it shouldn't have to be this complicated!

and therefore maximum weight doesnt exist either for the same reason!

It would make getting rid of your last stuff a lot easier as a business seller.

It might cost a bit more, but would avoid a lot of hassle

Private seller, sallyh1900?

No. You. Are. Not.

You make that clear in Post #5: "I am getting rid of ... my workshop fabrics ... If I went through my business I'd have to charge higher...".

As part of the process of retiring you are selling items from your business. You are trading. You are not selling privately-owned items. You are selling stock from a business. But, as is pretty much par for the course with people who are either in complete denial or who know precisely how to play the system, you're using a private account to trade on the cheap and denying customers their legal rights.

To claim you are a genuine private seller is laughable. You should be registered as a business seller.

No ifs, no buts.
