So i'm new to selling on ebay and tonight had my first item sell (which i sold to the buyer at a reduced price). When listing the item I entered all the correct measurements for postage. However now that the sale has gone through, postage has almost doubled! So i'm now actually at a loss on the item. The only reason I can think of for the increase is that the buyer is in Belfast and I'm in England.
How do I stop this from happening again?

If the courier is Evri they do charge more for Northern Ireland. You could use Royal Mail instead they don't charge more for NI. You can buy your own postage at your post office. Just remember to add tracking and mark dispatched manually when you buy your own postage, via the dropdown menu for the item on orders page.

In addition to the advice already given on this thread, you could try to recoup the loss made on this sale when you list further items for sale. Just work out how much you lost on this sale and then add a bit more to the asking price of each of your other items. If you do that then when they subsequently sell the extra amount added on should give you a bit more money from the sale of those items, and hopefully enable you to claw back the amount that you lost on the item that you sold to the buyer from Northern Ireland.
