Massive jump in price for GSP orders to the USA (from UK)

Is anyone aware why global shipping scheme orders have suddenly jumped drastically in price for orders to the USA (from the UK?) A seller just informed me he’s being quoted $117 for a t shirt and another buyer cancelled an order and I can see they were refunded £129 for a £26 pounds order! Is this is a glitch or is something else going on?

This is why I was so against switching to using royal mail myself. Years back I paid them for tracked & Signed yet they failed to not only get signature in USA but to even claim delivered. Luckily buyer never pulled a fast one. But they never left feedback either which I have found now even shipping GSP none ( except 1 kind lady) Ever leave feedback. This means if I Hadn't Used GSP I could've been waiting 3months to get paid. I've now clicked to close account anyway. Too many problems since gsp price hike to usa, then simple delivery & nxt apparently new payment policies. Its ruined any chance of selling

Just spoke to ebay Uk representative, Liam, today 16 May, 2025.

He advised that ebay global shipping program has suspended all shipping to US and Canada in the last '2 or 3 days'  due to ongoing concerns regarding US imposed tariffs.

As a result, any buyers from US or Canada, who win a UK seller's auction through the GSP will be unable to pay for the item and will receive a message telling them the seller does not ship to their location.

Unfortunately, any bids on UK items by US or Canadian buyers placed, before this decision by ebay, will result in the winning bidder being unable to complete their purchase.

He stated this was a business decision taken by ebay to protect itself, as the GSP is supposed to take full responsibility once the item is received at Lichfield, Staffs.

Ebay do not want to be responsible for having to fund the additional import tariffs. 

He stated ebay purposely haven't communicated this to UK sellers as it is an 'ongoing situation'

So, the first UK sellers using the GSP will know of this is when their buyer is unable to pay for their item and will have to cancel their order.

Hi everyone, just wanted to share another update on GSP. Please see below.

Select GSP listings have begun to appear for US buyers, allowing some UK sellers to start seeing sales to the US. We will continue to work on ensuring that GSP service coverage is maximised, as customs requirements evolve. Until then, if you are not yet seeing GSP coverage for your item and wish to list items for US buyers, you can specify a shipping service to the US.

Considering the complete lack of any formal communication on this issue by ebay, not sure this vague you might be lucky, you might not  message constitutes the description  'another update'

Do we know when this will be resolved. Have 2 items hanging in the UK awaiting resolution.
