A buyer paid for an item last Monday. I bought the Second Class postage as they selected and added the tracking number to eBay (I know it doesn't track but it does confirm when it's been delivered). It was collected by Royal Mail on Tuesday morning and I got an email proof of postage.
On Friday, the buyer filed an item not received despite making no attempt to communicate with me. The item then arrived the next day and the tracking updated to delivered on eBay. The buyer cancelled the claim.
I've now discovered that it's caused me to get my very first Late Delivery Rate.
This feels really unfair as I did everything right. Is there any way to get this removed?

Hi dadadadan, thanks for your post.
I'd be happy to send this for review. Do you know if the item was delivered before or after the estimated delivery date? Also, if you confirm the item number, we can take a look for you.
Thank you,
Marco

Hi Marco,
Thanks for the reply. The item was delivered 4 days after I posted it (sent Tuesday, arrived Saturday), so I presume it was after the estimated delivery date. The item number was 356018994429.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi dadadadan, thanks for your reply.
I will send that for review you now, but please note that this doesn't mean that it will be removed, especially considering that the item was delivered after the estimated delivery date.
Thank you,
Marco

Hi dadadadan, hope you're doing well.
I've just got an update on this, and I'm afraid that your case wouldn't qualify for removal due to the item being delivered after the estimated delivery date. I understand this is probably not the outcome you were hoping for, but I hope this clarifies everything for you.
Thank you,
Marco

Hi Marco,
Thanks for trying, I appreciate it. Can I just confirm something with you so that I understand how it works properly?
Does this mean that if a customer buys something from me right now and pays for Special Delivery, and I take it to the Post Office and send it today, but Royal Mail don't deliver it tomorrow like they were supposed to, I get a late delivery strike?
Thanks,
Dan

What about when your estimated delivery is incorrect, I am a victim at the moment ordered saturday after my dispacth time so sent on monday estimated delivery friday at the latest , royal mail do not deliver friday so sunday buyer opens case, with a delightful comment.
Ebays estimated delivery for this monday tuesday, so delivered on the same day i sent it, how the heck is that possible .

There really should not be a late delivery rate, we have no control of Royal Mail etc. And with second class the postmen don't have to scan them and most times don't, so how it works there I have no clue, they must just make it up, mine is at 2.15% whatever that means.

I have a question about EDD and late delivery by postal services.
If purchasing eBay postal labels it marks the item as despatched... this is often not the case as they are not collected /posted until the next day. Therefore EDD dates shown to the buyers appear to be misguided. Second class can not be delivered in one or two days, and never has been, even at 3 days which Royal Mail quote items are not being delivered. My second class parcels received are taking up to a week.
Why are sellers penalised for what is obviously a delay by the postal couriers and eBays " false" EDD dates. Surely when the postal label is purchased and this triggers an automated despatched , the first day cannot be included as the items are not despatched /collected until the next day especially if postal labels are purchased later in the day.
It is unfair to both buyers and sellers alike.
Please could you clarify and look into this. Thank you.
