Following the latest ebay simple delivery changes, ebay claims that the full value of the item is protected "if the item is lost or damaged from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network and until it's marked as delivered" which they advertised.
Now I've got a concern on what happens if parcel is lost.
I've recently sold an item to a buyer, posting it with simple delivery via Royal Mail Tracked 48. As per Royal Mail tracking, the item has been scanned and accepted at the Royal Mail delivery office last week. So I assume the full value of parcel will be covered by ebay in the event of parcel loss.
I know it's only a few days without any updates on the Royal Mail parcel tracking, but assuming the worst case scenario of the buyer raises "item not received" dispute and asks for refund, what should I do?
There are no information from ebay on how to deal with this situation.
My questions are:
1. Do I need to ask the buyer to wait for 10 working days before issuing a refund?
2. How do I get the full value compensation back if there are no further updates on parcel delivery? Would that be issued via Ebay, or via Royal Mail by directly contacting them on parcel loss? From my understanding, Royal Mail will only offer compensation of up to £150 for Tracked 24 or Tracked 48, so full value is not covered.
Many thanks.

You don't actually need to do anything. If the item doesn't get delivered and the buyer opens an 'Item not received' claim then eBay will refund the buyer at no cost to you (in other words you keep the original payment from the buyer).
