First use of Simple Delivery

Ok so having read loads of posts on these boards, I wanted to try the new SD that lots of people were up in arms against, so I listed an item to see for myself. (Only used RM48 previously taken to PO).

My local PO accepts Evri parcels so no difference for me really.

Item sold Sat 5 April at 6pm, so packaged and printed off the postage label, no issues, so far so good.

My concerns then started immediately:-

1. EBay moved the item into posted and awaiting feedback..INCORRECT it was still in my kitchen.

2. EBay message said I needed to post by Monday 7 April.  INCORRECT, my dispatch time is 3 working days in this case Weds 9 April

3. EBay updated the EDD to Tues 8th to Thurs 10th. INCORRECT as buyer has chosen the  cheapest Evri option..no way would it be on time even if I posted it Monday 7th..I have until Weds 9th to do so anyway.

As to whether the parcel arrives safely, is stolen off the doorstep, chucked over the side gate or vanishes into Evri’s black hole remains to be seen.

I understand eBay will handle buyers claims for lost or damaged items..doesn’t clearly say whether my funds will be on hold or not whilst they do this!

I guess only time will tell, but if I disable Evri from SD then the RM cost through eBay is higher than RM direct.

@comedydad69

I entirely get where you are coming from in your numbered points but you're missing the change in circumstances.

You no longer control anything to do with postage.

That is entirely between eBay and the buyer. So that part of the contract of sale is entirely based on their agreed terms.

This is why I have been calling certain elements TRAPS.

Ebay told sellers they would have a maximum of 3 days turnaround for orders.

But as you have noticed they are giving exact dates/2-3 day delivery times for buyers.

That means we basically have to send next day to fulfill their terms of sale.

If we don't we make them liable for claims.

There's no way eBay haven't seen this, so what do they have planned?

Before, even when they weren't liable, they used to sanction accounts for late delivery and not as described claims. Now that they are, what do you think they may do.

Keep in mind they have your money and their terms and conditions specifically refer to if we give them legal liabilities they can sanction us as they choose. Paraphrasing, but that's the gist.

So, it's almost certainly a TRAP.

Being able to deselect Royal Mail is another TRAP. They are the only courier with full UK coverage.

It's a perspective thing. It is incorrect for you, yes, unquestionably.

But it's also doing exactly what they want.
