Evri shipping error with ebay

When I choose to post to an address, choosing small shoe box:

Up to 1Kg. Postage £2.94 - With the following message - Up to 15 kg with maximum length 120 cm and sum of length and girth not to exceed 245 cm.

When I select 1Kg - 2Kg - £4.06 -

Up to 15 kg with maximum length 120 cm and sum of length and girth not to exceed 245 cm.

Why when you change to between 1Kg - 2Kg would the price change? It says that you can post up to 15Kg's. I really don't get it. Also, the dimensions are given are much bigger than a small shoe box, am I missing something here?

As a second test, when looking on the Evri website and adding the postage addresses manually, the costs are only £2.62 up to 5Kg.

Why are eBay making monkey from the postage costs here? I would have thought that they would have a deal with every postage firm (which I am sure they have) to take a fraction of all shipping costs.

I would have automatically assumed they get preferential rates above and beyond the standard cost due to economies of scale for their users.

3.29 then 4.79 delivery to home address for 1 and 1-2kg booking direct with evri

2.62 is for parcel shop pick up price

I don’t use them but assuming eBay prices are for home delivery ?

You are right, it was my error, I needed to go through the whole process to final purchase on the Evri site to see the actual costs split out between shop pickup and home delivery.

The bit underneath with the maximum weight and size, is the maximum weight and size Evri will take.
So the first price is for a parcel up to 1kg, the second one is the price for a parcel between 1 & 2kg.

That may be true. My main job is in the financial sector, and that message would never be allowed.

If I select up to 1kg, it has a message next to it stating that it's covered up to 15kg. No where does it say that this is only an option if you choose another weight, or the carrier's maximum weight allowance.

If you chose on travel insurance policy up to £1k cover for lost luggage and next to it said "You are covered up to £1m in lost luggage" you would assume it's a general coverage term.

I know I am being very nitpicky here, but eBay are a multi-million pound company, that message is 100% unfair to customers.
