As A Private Seller, I have just listed an item and I am now being charged £3.94 using Royal Mail by eBay to post an item that costs £3.45 with Royal Mail. No way out of this. Feel like removing free postage and charging the buyer knowing it won't sell just for the fun of it.

If you let the Buyer pay they'll be charged £3.38. Whether it being more if the Seller pays is a deliberate policy or yet another bug is unknown.

EBay charges more for postage for items sold over £100
£3.94 is the charge for 0-1kg small parcel there
not sure why

Came here to find out if others are having this same issue. It costs just £3.45 to send a 2kg parcel with RM yet Ebay are trying to charge me £3.95 if i mark the parcel as 1kg and £4.45 if i mark it as 2kg! I just changed my listing from free postage and now the seller can fork out the money. once my listings are sold i'm done selling. no more!

I had a similar thing with selling stamps. Above £100 value the SD rate shoots up to £3.45. It's only a large letter and RM tracked postage bought direct is just £2.70. £3.45 is the RM rate for a tracked small parcel!
I guess Ebay is using the inflated SD rates to part subsidise slightly lower ones?
Good luck selling with the higher postage costs. We urgently need that SD opt-out!
